Pierced Border Pinecone

There were a couple challenges that called for a bit of piercing on a card and another that wanted a bordered sentiment. So I combined the two together and made this Christmas card using the Gina K. Designs Peace and Joy set which is illustrated by Theresa Momber.

My first step was to stamp the Merry Christmas sentiment in a slanting upward way on the white card stock. I used Gina K. Designs Cranberry Tart ink. I then took some Bic Mark-It markers and combined a deep red and a brown together to try and match the cranberry tart ink and using a ruler made a faux border. Next I took a Tim Holtz Retractable Pick and pierced another border along the sentiment and the faux border. Forgive me if I got a bit crooked as I did not use a ruler to do the piercing.

I then proceeded to stamp the pine cone and needles with black Versafine ink. Next I colored them with Bic markers. Then I took a white paint pen and added some of that to make it look like a bit of snow is gathered on them.

My base card is also Cranberry Tart colored card stock and I added a sheet of white paper inside so that I could stamp some more images along the bottom and then add an inside sentiment.

I am entering this in the Mod Squad Blog Challenge for this week.

Well that is my stamping creativity for the week. I plan to do other activities the rest of this weekend. Perhaps read a book or watch a movie.

My week was a busy one with several doctor appointments and so now I have an upcoming surgery on August 15. Hopefully, I won't be laid up too long. In the meantime I will try to do some crafting if I can and keep working on the garden preserving. It seems everything is happening at the same time. But I have been trying to keep up and being busy keeps one mind off other matters too.

You have a great weekend.

God bless,
Verna

I love what that white paint pen did to your card! Your piercing and colors look amazing! I wish you did not need surgery. I hope it is successful. XXOO

Hello, Verna! Another Christmas card made! Love the pine cone and needles but even more impressive is how you did your sentiment - it looks layered and if I hadn't read how you did it, you would have fooled me. So sorry to hear about all of your doctors' appointments and upcoming surgery. Never fun - I hope it goes off without a hitch and that you heal quickly. I'm sure you are not looking forward to it. Sending hugs...

Wonderful way to do the sentiment. It looks layered, but I see it is not. Love the pine cones too - gorgeous card. Hope all goes well with your surgery.
