Stained Glass

I recently acquired a Sue Wilson Stained Glass Collection Butterfly die and so I decided yesterday afternoon to try and work up a design and I wanted to do an inlaid look with it. Well, I tell you that is time consuming especially when you have to first die cut it in so many different colors, but I just love the end result of it. I went with more Spring like colors too.

I made the mistake though of putting all the die cut pieces into one plastic bag and that really took time to find all the little pieces for it. I had originally planned to do the outside of the die cut too, but after all that work I thought it looked okay just this way.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Scrapy Land Challenge #86-Anything Goes
Double D's Blog Challenge-Just "Wing" It
Mod Squad Challenge-Ready for Spring

Well, I think I will make one more card this week and then I will have to get into cleaning mode and baking for Easter. I am so slow as I have to rest every little bit and believe me it takes me a long time to just put away my craft supplies as they go to various parts of the house. Oh, if only I had my own craft room I would be so happy. LOL

I will be posting a few cards I  have made up ahead of time. So I will still be around now and then. In the meantime, you have a great day and thanks for the visit.

God bless,
Verna

Verna, this is such a pretty card. That inlay must have taken forever! I think it looks very pretty with the frame, and now you can inlay those parts the next time you use the die - and have something to look forward to. I always like to have an idea ready for another card.

I just have been putting away my various craft items. I work in a corner of the tv room, so I am with you, a craft room would be great. I probably am going to share a few photos of my craft area soon, just to show that you can do it in a corner!

Have a great day!

This is so beautiful Verna!! I love the colors you used - so bright and cheerful!!

I learned a tip from Laurie Willison and that was - to attach a piece of "Press and Seal" on the back of a die like this after it goes through your cutting machine. It holds everything together nicely while you are waiting to select the individual pieces you need to use.

I hope this helps! because this is so beautiful! you are gonna want to make lots of these : )

Well that stained glass die is fabulous! Love how you inlaid the images. Oh bummer, BUT I bet you learned never to do that again lol You can use sticky paper or that Press N' Seal like Patti said--makes life so much easier! I think this is lovely! Thanks so much for playing along with us at The Double D Challenge Blog, Just 'Wing' It, Donna DT Member.

A beautiful result, despite the rummaging through the bag!The Press N Seal does sound like a good idea! Love the Spring look that you have achieved.

Gorgeous Verna! Oh my dear ... I feel your pain ... I did the same thing first time I did one of these stained glass die creations! Didn't take long for me to realize that was not the smart way of doing things! LOL
You did an amazing job and I love the spring colors ... very uplifting! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Double D ‘Just Wing It’ challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.

Beautiful card, Verna, lovely colours. I have this die too. I've found the easiest way to inlay it, is to cut out the frame first, after attaching the card to a double-sided adhesive sheet. This way all the little apertures are sticky, ready to pop in your little coloured pieces. I then cut out one colour at a time, trying to keep the pieces in the die if possible, so it's easy to see where they should go, then take them out one at a time. Then I pop them into place before going onto the next colour. xx

inlaid dies are my favorite thing to do! I agree, it's tedious, but it's calming for me in spite of the work involved. I love the end result here with the framework left empty. I think it draws more attention to the pretty flowers and butterfly this way! Beautiful!

Beautiful die & I love the inlaid effect! The frame left with the open areas was a good decision--looks great!

Oh Verna, this is just lovely. The colors are springy and the whole image is beautiful for a stained glass effect. I see where it was time consuming but well worth the effort. It takes me a long time to do things too because I rest in between chores.

Oh, I love these stained glass dies! I have several from Tutti Designs on my wish list. This looks fresh and ready for spring. Lots of effort in piecing it together, but it turned out amazing. The border looks just fine the way it is, too. Sometimes it's hard for me to put the crafty supplies away, even though I do have my own room. I cleaned and tidied it yesterday. Thank you for sharing in our Double D Just Wing It challenge!

Such a lovely card, Verna! I don't have any stained glass collections dies but sure do want some now. I love the softness of the colors you chose. You put a lot of time and work into it but it turned out to be a beautiful piece of art. :)
