I made a Bisters watercolor granules background several weeks ago and had not gotten to use it yet, so I decided today was the day to find a way of making it look even more awesome. For this background I used blue Bister granules but as you can see it took on the shades of green and blue as well as some brown. I liked it though. So that was my base for the background I created for this card.
To make a Bokeh Effect on this background I simply took two sizes of round sponge daubers and randomly stamped them down using white pigment ink from Gina K. Designs to create the effect. It looked quite well that way too, but I decided it was to be a snowy design so after the pigment ink was well dried, I then added various sizes of snowflakes from Gina K. Designs. I inked them with the white pigment ink and then added Gina K. Designs white detail embossing powder and heat set it. My background was now finished.
My little snowman is also from Gina K. Designs and I colored him with the Spectrum Noir markers. He was fussy cut out and popped onto the background. My card base is Gina K. Designs Red Velvet card stock. That little snowman image always reminds me of Frosty the Snowman with that top hat he wears! So cute!
Next I took an old sentiment which is from Stamp Towne Ladies, a company which I think is no longer in business and stamped that in Gina K. Designs cherry red dye ink onto white card stock. After layering it to some red velvet card stock I adhered it to the background. I then took two snowflake shank buttons, clipped off the shanks and with a glue dot added them to the sentiment for an embellishment.
My card was completed with the addition of some Wink of Stella on the snowman and also on the snowflake shank buttons.
I am so glad my friend Karen Hasheck posted how to do the Bokeh Effect on her blog. I know this will be something I will certainly enjoy doing again and again to create a fun look!
I am going to submit this to the Mod Squad Challenge for this week in which they wanted snowmen used on the projects.
I hope all of you are having a wonderful day and thanks for always coming by to see what I have been up to in my card making adventure.
God bless,
Verna
