Update

Well no new internet system yet. The tech did not show up yesterday  to install and when I called this morning they indicated that the utilities had not notified them that it was okay to dig there. So a new appointment will be next Friday. I am not very happy needless to say but not much I can do about it. I will try to be patient.

I don't know if I will get much card making done either as the garden is starting to produce enough where I am busy with that. I am freezing green beans today. So I do have productive work. I freeze my beans in a two step process. First day I butt, slice and wash the beans and blanch them for three minutes and cool off. I then drain them well and spread them out on cookies sheets and freeze them that way.

Tomorrow I will take a spatula and remove the beans from the sheet and bag and label them .   By doing them this way they are frozen in more individual beans and not one clump. So if I want to just add a portion of a bag to a dish I only need to shake out that amount.

Well, have a good weekend. And, sorry if I miss  posting much. More then likely if I can it will be only a word or two as I need to hurry before the internet goes down again. No need to respond back to this post as I just wanted to fill you in on my issues again. Sure is getting to be an old story with my internet woes.

God bless,

Playing with Digis Again

On the Artsystamper Addiction Facebook page I saw a card made with a freebie Chinese "take out" carton where they had  pieced the carton with some pattern paper. So my mission was to try and make my own version.

I finally figured out how to do it. First I chose some pattern paper from the Fall Flowers Stamp and Paper Crafting kit and printed that out. Then I sized up the carton on my program and added everything else I wanted on that sheet and my design was ready to print. The first printing was done on the pattern paper and the second  printing was done on the card stock. Then I was able to piece the carton with the pattern paper. When all was fussy cut and glued I placed it aside until the rest of the card was made.

I  used one of the pattern designs from the Artsystamper Jellies Paper Pack on which I had added the sentiment for my background and that was placed on a kraft card stock base. I was then able to finish it off by adding the "to go" box to which I had colored in the sweet and sour chicken bites with my colored pencils. At least that was what I decided to order. Hahaa!

It seems "take out" is the norm these days or at least in our household. So I thought this would work for a  birthday card with some money included so that they can have a mini celebration with some good eating.

This will be entered in the Artsystamper Challenge #20- Birthday! It fits the category this  time around since I made it a birthday card.

Well if the internet cooperates I will try to post this. And, so sorry I did not get to comment on many of your posts either. But lots of times I got the message written but by the time I wanted to add it to your post the internet was down again. Very frustrating. I used my iPhone to delete many of my emails that were not important.  Mostly ads and that way I was not disappointed to see all the sales and not be able to buy. Hahaa! Tomorrow we get the new internet if nothing goes wrong. Keep your fingers crossed!

God bless,

July Rudolph Days Challenge

Yesterday I finished making a couple cards for the July Rudolph Days Challenge to which I had used a Gina K. Designs Stencil and some Gina K. Designs Glitter Gel a few weeks ago. They were left to dry and sort of got put on the back burner so to speak. They did not need to dry that long. Hahaa! So here for your viewing pleasure I hope is the two cards I made. That stencil is huge so I only used a portion of it.

I, myself, love both versions. I think along with the sentiment from Gina K. Designs they work great for holiday greetings. On both I used glitter paper around the sentiment and on the first one I also used glitter paper to layer the  purple panel on as well.

Well, I hope everyone is having a great weekend planned. Ours will be pretty normal here ( or as normal as we can be in the Corona Virus  pandemic). Take care everyone and thanks for the visits.

House Mouse, Published and More!

Well, hello everyone. I am still here and this time I did some regular stamping and also some stenciling for my card design. Several weeks ago I won a set of Stampendous House Mouse Designs stamps called  Mini Clear Stamp set which consisted of ten stamps, one acrylic block and one ink  pad. And, I love all the cute designs in it. Because of the Covid-19 it took a long time getting to me but finally I got it and I must say it is a wonderful prize. So today I used one of those designs to create a quick and easy card. I hope you like it.

These are small stamps and while I was looking through some papers I stumbled upon a pre-diecut  panel of  pink card stock. So that was the base I used to stamp the design on. I then took Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol and colored in the focal image. The sentiment was with that particular design so I used that as well. The die cut panel was done with a Gina K. Design stitched rectangle die.

For the background I took an Altenew stencil called Watercolor Stripes and brushed on some ink using a Hero Arts Ombre Spring Brights stamp pad  I also brushed some of the same color around the edge of the focal design to make it match a bit more. That focal image was layered to black card stock and placed over the stenciled  background. And that completed my card.

I am entering this in the House Mouse Challenge-Anything Goes with optional number. I chose not to add a number.

And some exciting news! Karen Hasheck and I are co-starring in an article in the Fall issue of Rubberstampmadness. I knew about this a long time ago but had to wait until the issue came out to say anything. The article is called Cards Without Stamps and it is on Pages 40, 41 and 42. If by chance you get the magazine maybe you will want to check it out. LOL (Hint) Both of us have two cards published and also they did a great write-up as well.

Now to the internet issue. We will be getting the Dish system but not until next week as they discovered that by putting up a pole with the Dish on it we will get a much stronger signal. So they are coming back next Thursday to install that provided no one is sick or no storms. I was a bit disappointed but it was good to hear we will be getting service eventually. Thankfully, today we have a strong south wind so we are getting the signal from our current provider strong today.

Well, that does it for me today. I hope all are doing well and staying healthy. Until next time please take care.

Playing With Digitals

I decided to play with digitals today. I don't have any jelly plates or supplies but when  I saw the Artsy Jellies Paper Pack on the Artstystamper shop I decided they were on my wish list. So today I used one of the papers included along with the Artsy Sentiment set and some pre-colored Mums from the Artstystamper Fall Flowers and Paper Crafting Kit. I am so thrilled as to how this all came about and I love the end result. I also used white and black card stock from Gina K. Designs and a few black glitter gems from my supply.

I am entering this card in the Artsystamper Challenge #20-Birthday.

Internet is slow today but working....so I am grateful for that. Hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow I will have better internet. If this doesn't work I don't know what we will do so keep your fingers crossed.

Take care and God bless,
Verna

Dog Rose Cards

More artwork using Altenew products. I recently won two gift certificates to Altenew so I spent them on some new goodies and I am sharing two cards I made using the Dog Rose Dies. They work in my Altenew Mini  Blossom die cutting machine. However, the more intricate die needs the metal shim or extra card stock shims to get a good cut.

The first one I am showing is the one I made using both the A and  B dies together. I bought them as a bundle as it was a tad cheaper. For this card I used two shades of purples to make a CAS design that packs a punch. I added a sentiment from the Altenew Sentiment Strips stamp set.

And my Twofer  uses only the one die which I like how it looks as well. It gives another great way to use those dies and again I used the same sentiment. I was in need of more sympathy cards and I felt these would be great ones.

Don't you agree they look awesome both ways. I know I am so thrilled with them. And, they are dies that could be for many occasions too.

Since this is new to me I guess I will enter this in the NBUS challenge-16.  NBUS stands for Never  Before Used Stuff. Heaven knows I have a lot of that in my supply.

Well, the wind is from the south so the internet is behaving today. Hopefully, Thursday we will get on the new internet source and since it is the only other option for us I hope it works a lot better then this one. Wish us luck!

Take care and God bless,
Verna

Tartan Plaid

With the internet function in short supply at our home I have managed to do several cards. In fact, I have over 75 Christmas cards done now. So I am in good shape that way. But this card I am sharing with you is one I made using a new NBUS stamp set from Altenew called Tartan. It is a multi-layering set. I also added a flower and butterfly from an older Altenew set called Wild Hibiscus which were just stamped with black ink onto white card stock and added. I did not add a sentiment but will when I finally decide for what occasion this card will be. Notice that little black dot on the card. There must have been a speck on the stamp I did not see after cleaning it and so no doubt my sentiment will go in that area. It will be an easy fix!

I love how this looks. I think it will be among my favorites I have ever made. One nice thing about making one's own plaid background is that you can make it any colors you wish.

Well, have a great weekend everyone. I hope all are well too.

God bless,
Verna

Card and Internet Info

Here is a quick card I made using the Altenew Dot Art set and a Hero Arts Ombre stamp pad. I really like it.

Now for the internet news. Where we are getting service now will be closed down in a short time so we looked for another source. It appears the only other option is with the DISH TV system and so we will be getting hooked up to that next Thursday. So in the meantime we are still having the "in and out" issues. I am glad we can still keep our email address the same too. We only had two options to begin with so we are switching over to this other one. It is a bit more spendy but I guess if it works it will be worth it. The one we are on  now is with a tower and this DISH one through Hugh's Net will be with satellite. I guess I was confused before as to how we got our internet.

So sorry I have missed commenting again. Let's hope next weekend it will be all better. In the meantime take care. I am glad the internet is functioning this morning at least.

God bless,

Autumn Birthday Card

I recently acquired the Altenew Peaceful Wreath and one of the first things I though of was to try and make the wreath look more like an Autumn design.  So that was my mission today. I also grabbed a sentiment from the Altenew Floral Spring set to place in the middle of the wreath. I will love seeing your opinion as to whether I pulled it off or not. At least it was a fun project to do.

I used a rainbow pad on Ivory card stock for the wreath leaves which had Autumn colors in it. I also used that for the sentiment along with another teal ink pad. And the berries I made in an orange shade. With some acrylic paint and a brush I splatted some paint on the front of the panel. And, then I tied that color in with a layer of teal card stock before I placed it on the Ivory card base.

I am entering this in the Altenew Vintage Farmhouse Color Palette-July 2020 Inspiration Challenge.  I tried to match the colors as close as I could with the inks I had on hand.

So far the internet has worked well all day but I see rain clouds building up so this may be the end of it soon. The technician has not come yet. They said sometime this week.

Well, take care and stay well. Thanks for the visit.

God bless,
Verna

Mums

Quick post while the internet is cooperating. I made this card using the Artstystamper Fall Flowers Stamp and Paper Pack digital kit. I will be entering this in the Artstystamper Challenge #19-Red, White and Blue.

The photo is a bit blurry as I did not have good light late in the evening to make it look better. I hope you get the idea though.

Internet technician is supposed to come in a few days to see if they can figure out why we are having so much problems. It seems the neighbors are having good service now. So I hope there is a solution.

Take care and again I apologize for the lack of commenting on your blog posts. I thank all who stopped by to see mine too.

God bless,

Christmas Cardinals Scene

I made a scene  using Jan's Digital Christmas Cardinals set and the Tree set for this card. I am always loving cardinals so I just had to own this one. Again I used the pre-colored images.

I took the  left gate and joined it to the right gate digital stamp to create more of a fence line. Then I added the sentiment above the gate. But I felt it needed something else so I printed out some of the trees and fussy cut them and placed them in the foreground of the scene. The finishing touch was to add a slight amount of blue brushing at the top for the sky. I also added a white panel inside. The scene and inside panel were cut with a Spellbinder rounded corner rectangle die.

I am entering this in Jan's Digitals July 2020 challenge-Anything Goes.

The internet worked in the middle of the night so I got some emails removed from my inbox but I am afraid I did not stop to comment. Today the internet is working better as it is not as humid and therefore I am going to post while I can. I hope all had a great weekend. We  had a wonderful one as we got to see some family again. I hope that was a good thing to do as I always worry about someone getting sick. So far we have lucked out.

Well thanks for visiting and so sorry if I cannot always return the comments to your blogs.

God bless,
Verna

Yellow Blooms

This afternoon I worked up a quick design using the Artsystamper Four Leaves digital stamp and also a flower and sentiment from the Artsystamper Oxalis digital set. I colored the design in with my Bics and added the focal design panel to a yellow card base. I finished the card with some ribbon and  brown rhinestones.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Artsystamper Challenge
Arty Divas-Challenge #25

Well, that is all for today. I wish you a great one and thanks for the visits.

Christmas Leaves

Remember the last post I did was using the Four Leaves freebie given to those who belonged to the Artsystamper Facebook page. Well, when the internet was down  yesterday I used it again and this time created a Christmas card design. I really like it too!

I added four sets of the leaves to my page starting with a larger one and then gradually going down in size. Also on the same  page I added the sentiment which is by Donna Ellis. She always has such nice fonts when she makes sentiments and this is one I thought would work for any occasion.....even Christmas.

I printed out the leaves and proceeded to color them with my Bic Alcohol markers. Next I fussy cut each one and layered them together to create a poinsettia. Poinsettias are really a cluster of leaves and not really a flower. But I still refer to them as a flower.

I added some pattern paper from Gina K. Designs to a white card base and then to that I added the sentiment which was die cut with Gina K. Designs double stitched square die and then layered to a Gina K. Designs single stitched die which makes just the perfect green border when placed together. The layout was then ready for the addition of the poinsettia. I added some light yellow pearls to the center to make it look more realistic. A little strip of the pattern paper inside the card finished it. And, that is my Christmas leaves card.

I am entering this in the following challenge:
Double D Challenge-Use Stitches

Yesterday the internet was down almost all day except for a 15 minute stretch. So this morning my inbox was so full of emails with all the wonderful  posts you card makers had done but I am afraid I had to just look and leave for most of them as this morning it was still in and out. So even though I did not always comment I did look and you all did awesome work making great creations. So forgive me for not commenting. I hope this works long enough to get this posted. We have such humid weather which messes with satellite systems like ours. So take care everyone and thanks for visiting.

God bless,
