Lone Tree Sympathy

Well, I found things went faster then I anticipated this morning so I did work on a card I had started yesterday and got it finished so at least one card will be posted to my blog this week. Of course, I still have a sink full of dishes to do but that will not be so hard to handle. Anyway, I was told to rest a bit now and then as well so that is a good excuse. I did elevate my leg on another chair. LOL

Once again I did a simple scene design and used the tree image from the Kitchen Sink Stamps line called Multi Step Trees LRGC 031. I don't think one could fail in getting a great tree with the way those stamps are constructed with their various steps. I really like them a lot.

I also used a sentiment from the Kitchen Sink Stamps line from the Simple Sentiments MINI 006 set. I stamped that in Gina K. Designs Charcoal Brown.

I did not have the exact ink colors recommended but I did use three shades of green ink from the Gina K. Designs line for the tree. First was Jelly Bean Green, then Fresh Asparagus and the final green shade was Christmas Pine followed by the Charcoal Brown layer.

My sky was done with Gina K. Designs Powder Blue ink and I took a small sponge dauber and added some Gina K. Designs Sweet Corn ink to make the sun. I gently sponged on a little yellow ink around the dauber stamped sun to create a glowing affect. The final step for the sky was to take bleach and a brush and create a few clouds in the sky.

Ink colors used for my sponged ground surface were Jelly Bean Green and Charcoal Brown.

Once my scene was complete I mounted it onto a Charcoal Brown card stock layer before adding it to the A2 size white card stock base.

When I first saw this tree image set the first thing that came to mind was that it would work for fabulous masculine cards and especially for a sympathy card. Just a simple lone tree is beautiful I think.

This card will be my entry into this week's Mod Squad Blog Challenge as the theme is to use water or sky on one's card. I guess this certainly fits the challenge then.

Well, thanks for looking and I am glad that between two days' time I was able to make a card. Tomorrow is wound care clinic again so that pretty much takes up a whole day for me. And, then I have to clean up the house for the weekend guests who are coming. Not quite so bad though...just some sweeping of floors and dusting.

Take care and God bless,
Verna

Beautiful scene you created here Verna. Hope you are resting when you can and not doing too much cleaning - you want to be able to enjoy your week end.

I have been playing with my KSS today and I have to say it takes some practice. That being said, I compliment you on this gorgeous creation. A perfect sympathy card.

Verna, your cards are always special and the sympathy card will be well received. Sorry you are having problems with your knee. Way too much fun the last few days so you best take a rest. The dishes can wait until evening. Elevate your leg and read a book.
