Yesterday we once again had a snowy day so I worked with some supplies I had on hand to make a card. Earlier I had die cut out several candles for future birthday card designs and when I observed how neat the die cut negative looked I thought I would try using it as a stencil. So this is the result of that afternoon activity. I made a slimline card which seems to be all the rage now!
The candles are from a Stamp & Die Block Duo from Impression Obsession. The inks I used for the flame were Gina K. Designs Wild Dandelion and Tangerine Twist. The candles were colored with a Hero Arts Ombre Meadow rainbow pad. And the sentiment and confetti images were from the Sweet 'n Sassy stamps Bold Birthday set. I used blending brushes to add the color through the stencil. The card base and layers were pre-cut and I got them from The Paper Cut.
I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday, We have lots of sunshine today but it is still quite cold. At least it is not snowing. Take care and see you next time!
God bless, Verna

Brilliant card, Verna. What a great idea to us the die cut negative. xx
I love your slimline Birthday card!! So creative and fun!
We had a flutter of snow but not enough to stick although other parts of the country did....your card is so lovely x
Astounding card with this design. It's a great way to do the slimline card too.
Your stencil made a great slim line. I love the shading from the ombre pad. We have the cold too but also snow and it is starting to ice up. Glad I'm not going out.
The negative turned into a super cute card for a birthday!! I have a drawer full of negatives just for this technique but your candles take the stage!! Don't you love it when you can get extra 'miles' out of the die!!
Awesome birthday card Verna, the diecut negative is a perfect stencil
The negative made a great stencil & perfect for a slimline card!
What a great use of the negative die cut Verna, and a wonderful card as a result
Stay safe

How beautifully your die worked out as a stencil! Fabulous card, Verna! I've been planning to use my clear cover cardstock to make some stencils from dies. This one is perfect!
What a creative idea to use the negative die cuts as a stencil. A really happy card, great blending and very contemporary too Verna x.
Fantastic, Verna! Love the use of the negative, and your coloring is just fantastic -- those little flames look so real
I love your stenciled candles! They really work well on the slimline card.
LOVE this!!
Awesome slimline card. Love those candles
Awesome!!!!! and you photographed it so well! I think those slimline cards are a pain in the butt to photograph them - especially for Instagram with their square format.....The main reason I stay away from them.....
