Over at Stamp TV Gina K. has a video showing how to do the wax paper embossing resist. I thought her card so pretty that I had to try it for myself. I chose for this card an embossing folder from Die'sire called Ornate Butterflies.
I purchased this folder from Crafter's Companion some time ago so I am not sure if it is still available or not, but I am sure you can find an embossing folder in your supply that would work as well.
And, the wax paper gives it so much texture that you don't notice the butterflies as much but instead see all the design created from the resist. I sponged my resist background with Gina K. Designs Honey Mustard ink. The roses, leaves and sentiment are from the Gina K. Designs Frames and Flowers 2 set. I first stamped the roses in Gina K. Designs Sweet Corn and then did the over stamped image with the Honey Mustard. The leaves were first stamped with Gina K. Designs Grass Green and then over stamped with Gina K. Designs Christmas Pine. I also used Gina K. Designs Honey Mustard and White card stocks for the card.
The sentiment was stamped in black on white card stock and then die cut with Coved Rectangle Scallop Die. I then die cut a layer of Honey Mustard for it before I added it to the card. The ribbon die was also cut from white card stock and added to the design.
Cheery Lynn Dies used:
Coved Rectangle-Scalloped XM-11
Allison's Ribbons B335

Well, I enjoyed making this yesterday afternoon and evening. But I did not get around to photographing it until today. And, with some household chores needing to be finished first I am just now getting it posted to my blog.
My day is going great and I hope yours is as well. Until next time, take care.
God bless,
Verna

Pretty great outcome on that technique. It's intriguing, and I want to try it. LOVE your colors and the design. Really pretty card, and you mailed that waxed paper gig.
Hi Verna! You did such a beautiful job on this wax technique! I love your roses! Gina has such well made video tutorials and makes everything look so easy! Just a few days back I was watching the oldie but goodie video when she used the dress form using this technique, then voila - it's on her site, updated with crinkles!!!
Your background looks fantastic! It looks so pretty in the honey mustard. I'm going to need to give this technique a try!
Love your background and your roses. Fabulous card, Verna.
