Christmas Scene

I recently purchased a few sets from A Jillian Vance Design and this Christmas Scene card was made using some of the images from her Winter Woodland set. I only got one design done but I think I will be using this set for more cards as well. There are some really cute woodland creatures on it.

I used Momento inks and stamped the design onto glossy white card stock. I went very simple but cut the scene out with a My Favorite Things Die-Namics Wonky Rectangle Die. I also used a die from that set to cut out the red gingham pattern paper which is from Gina K. Designs. The sentiment from the set was layered onto red card stock and added to the front focal panel. Next I layered all onto a base card of white card stock. My finishing touch was to add some more gingham inside the card.

I am entering this card in the Double D's Blog Challenge where the theme is Simply Gingham.

Well, we were blessed again with more rain. In fact, we got 3 1/2 inches in the early morning hours. There is a possibility of even more tonight. I guess we shall see what the night will bring. But it seems the drought is broken for us. Already the weeds are popping up in the garden. So weeding will be the next thing besides gathering the produce. We had our first peas and beans from the garden so  I hope they will continue to bear well.

Beach Girl Thanks

Have you ever had one of those days where it seems everything you had meant to be part of the creative process of a card just did not work out. Finally after many frustrating issues I decided to turn back to an old trick we did in the early days of my stamping career. That is to tear around the image and create a rugged and ragged distressed border. I added the focal image to a piece of navy and beige gingham pattern paper and added some faux stitches along with a torn sentiment and this is the end result.

And you would think that would be the end of my frustration but alas, I also had trouble getting a decent photo. This seemed to be the best one of the lot. I also took one from a different perspective and that isn't too bad either so I am featuring that below.

Summer Day

My grandsons left for their home today so since it was so quiet and I missed them I decided to pass my time by making a card. I went with a summer theme and made it a type of card that might work for many occasions.

My focal image of the girl using her binoculars to view her surroundings is from Great Impressions and is from the Missing You set. This scene was colored in with Zig markers. I also had die cut some kitties from Cheery Lynn Designs but only took the smaller ones and added them to the summer scene.

This focal image was die cut with an oval die and added over the top of a card front of blue card stock. But I only removed a portion of the wonky squares from this blue layer. Then I placed it over a base card of heavy white card stock. And below that I added the die cut sentiment.

Feels Like A Tropical Heatwave

The last few days have been very hot and humid. It felt a lot like what I imagined a tropical part of the country would have instead of us here in South Dakota. And no one felt like doing much outside and all appreciated the air conditioning.  However, the rain we got was just a smidge and we are still hoping that even though it may be stormy that with the storms we will get some much needed moisture. Anyway, I thought this card might work for a summery card and even though we don't grow hibiscus here, I know they do grow it in the warmer parts of the United States.

I used the hibiscus and sentiments from the Paradise stamp set by Uniko. This is a stamp set I won and I am just loving the beautiful designs of it. I know this will be used many times. I stamped the images with Momentos and used my MISTI to align them up correctly. It also involved some masking.

I used gingham pattern paper that I had in my stash which was cut with a rectangle die. I have no idea who makes the pattern paper as it was purchased when a store was closing shop. The focal image was stamped on white card stock and then cut out with a rectangle die as was the green border. And the main card was heavy weight yellow card stock.

Before I assembled the card design together I added a yellow gingham ribbon over the white layered red gingham panel. I also stamped some of the other hibiscus open images inside the card.

Baseball Birthday

I thought this was a great birthday design for baseball fans of any gender but I made it especially for my son in law. He is a big fan of all types of sports.

I used images from the Kitchen Sink Stamps line and the stamp set is called 3 Step Baseball. The wood grain background was made with my Scor-Board and then the color was added by dragging the stamp pad over the paper. I paired it with some Gina K. Designs pattern paper.

Baseball is a favorite past time in our area with lots of games being played in the summer with teams from other towns.

Stamplorations is celebrating their third birthday so I am entering this in the Stamplorations Blog Hop & Linky Party. I just recently discovered their line.

Happy Fourth of July

Just a quick design to express my love of the United States of America and that I hope the United States I have grown to love will continue to grow and flourish in the days to come. I hope there will be more peace in our nation as well.

The pattern paper was from the Liberty Collection by BoBunny. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Company and the big star is from Lawn Fawn. I also outlined the big star diecut with some silver glitter paper. The base of the card is a duplex red and white card stock.

Because we celebrate our nation's birthday today I am entering this in the Stamplorations Blog Hop & Linky Party.

I wish all of you a wonderful Fourth of July and I hope it is a safe one for you. Because we are so very dry here, our family has decided not to shoot any fireworks off. Almost all years we do but our hopes this year is that perhaps the Lord will shoot some off later tonight and bless us with some much needed moisture.

Sea Scene

Yesterday some awesome mail arrived at my door and one of the sets from the Gina K. Designs package was the one called Ship to Shore. So after I had finished all of my cleaning for the day I relaxed and made up a quick scene card with that set.

My card is made of Gina K. Designs Pure Luxury Ivory heavy weight card stock. On a separate piece of the ivory card stock I stamped the waves in various colors of Momento blue inks leaving a space at the bottom which I wanted to be the sandy shore area. Also on that sandy shore I sponged on ink again and added the sentiment from the stamp set. On a separate piece of the ivory card stock I stamped the light house with Versafine black ink and did a fussy cut of that so it could be popped up over the sea waves.

But before I added these elements to the card I took sponges and sponged on my sky and again using Momento inks. I then added my sail boat and the birds with Versafine black ink. The waves were added right over the bottom of the sail boat and I added the light house over the waves.

I sure had fun making this card and it seems that sponging ink is always so relaxing and that was just what I needed to get me feeling more refreshed. I hope you liked the scene too/
