Washi Tape Anniversary Card

Some few months ago I won a gift certificate to Altenew and this huge over 11 inches wide Washi tape was one of the items I spent it on. Well, I had some difficulty getting the tape to unroll without tearing but I did manage to get some pieces of it so that I could end up with some great card making supplies. This particular tape is called Wild Flora Washi Tape and it is indeed beautiful. I am hoping eventually I will get it to come off the roll easier. But I doubt I will ever order any that wide again. It is too difficult for me with my arthritis hands. A2 card size washi tape is much easier to work with. There were dies with the bundle I bought too so I might be showing some die cut flowers from the tape one of these days on future cards.

I decided to fussy cut around the bigger flower and then have that as a border design against the darker green cardstock. This panel was then die cut with a Maker's Movement Stitched Rectangle Die before adding it to the white card base.  The sentiment is also from Altenew.

I have several wedding anniversaries coming up this Fall so I thought I best work on making a few for those occasions. I think it makes a lovely anniversary card.

Well, I survived my procedure Monday and like many of  you had said I found the prep day was the worst. And, the results were that I have a healthy colon. So that at least was a good thing to hear. Thanks to all who kept me in their thoughts that day.

Well, today no card making but instead I slept in as I got very little sleep the night before. I also had some leftover chicken broth so I decided to make a casserole with that, chicken, some noodles and veggies for a supper meal. I am sure I have way to much so no doubt I will put a few meals in the freezer for those days I want to craft and not have to worry about what's for supper. LOL

Take care everyone and thanks for the visit and comments.

Until next time, God bless, Verna

Freshly Made Sketches #500 Entry

I have not been entering very many challenges lately but I saw the sketch design for Freshly Made Sketches #500 and it looked simple enough that I thought even I could do it. So here is what I came up with. And congratulations to them on their #500 sketch.

Below you can see the sketch I followed fairly close.

I used Gina K. Designs card stock, pattern paper from the Grateful Hearts pack, black ink and a sentiment from the Thankful & Blessed stamp set. The panels were all die cut with a Makers Movement Rectangle Stitched die set.

So now I have my first Thanksgiving card done. The other day I finished all my Halloween cards so that I will show you another day.

Well, it was so nice of you to visit and leave such wonderful comments. I so appreciate them.

Take care and God bless, Verna

'55 F250

Many inquired about being able to see our pickup so here is a photo of the pickup he put in some parades this summer. It was his Dad's pickup and my hubby overhauled the engine and worked on the transmission and got it running. He also added new seats and a headliner in the cab. He was going to have all the dings and dents removed and paint it but since it was going to cost $20,000-$30,000 for that he instead went with the rustic look and just did a clear coat over all the rust, dings and dents. I like it as it shows that it was a working pickup. It was originally owned by Milbank Hatchery but when it was advertised on sale his Dad bought it. Also originally it was painted white. It sat in a covered shed for over 20 years without it being moved so it is nice to see it up and running again.

Also in one of the parades our son-in-law drove a tractor of Arlin's that was a Farmall Model H that had a cab on it. That was an add-on feature but did not come orignally with the tractor. And as you can see my hubby had to get in character and wear his old overalls and straw hat. Hahaa!

I hope you enjoyed seeing the pickup and the tractor. I had a video of them in the parade but could not figure out how to add it to this post.

Well, thanks for looking and have a good day!

God bless, Verna

Winter Trees Scene

A couple weeks ago I printed out the winter scene design from Jan's Digitals Over the River set and I had added a car image loaded with presents for Christmas giving to complete that design. Well I printed out more of the tree scene then I really needed so today I used the winter trees printout by itself and I like it a lot. I simply added a Penny Black sentiment in red and then placed the scene on a red card base. The scene was die cut out with a Maker's Movement stitched die.

Well, we had a nice visit with our kids who came for the weekend. They also helped install our dishwasher and now we are learning how to operate that. I guess it is not too hard. A neighboring town has a Sweetcorn Festival every year so some of the family went to get a free sweetcorn feed for us to enjoy Sunday noon. They were so generous with the corn and besides that gave buttered bread and also a 24 pack of pop. I fixed a taco salad to go with the fare and that was our noon meal which everyone seemed to enjoy. Later some of them went to the parade that was held in the afternoon and hubby drove his old '55 Ford F250 that he restored in the parade. So it was a busy and fun weekend.

Thanks for all the visits and I hope all of you are off to a great week now. I am now being deprived of my pain meds so I may be in a bit more misery. Getting ready for the procedure  next Monday. I will be glad when it is all over and done with.

Until next time take care and God bless, Verna

Anniversary Card

Yesterday morning it occurred to me that I needed two anniversary cards for my son and daughter-in-law and for my daughter and son-in-law who have their wedding anniversaries two days apart. So I made two of this design but one of the cards I already sent off as it has to travel to Japan. But they were similar so this one will show you what I did with the combination of digital stamps, stencil and a die.

The pre-colored daisies digital is from the Jan's Digitals Pumpkin Blessings set. The sentiment is from the Artsystamper Digitals Artsy Sentiments set. I used a round stencil from Picket Fence Studios and brushed on the colors I wanted to use. I could have quit right there but I felt something was missing. So I diecut the hearts design which is from Cutplorations and added that to the bottom and with some of the negative hearts I added them also for extra embellishment. It took me very little time to do this card. What took longer was trying to locate the supplies. I also added a sentiment inside and wrote a note.

Another week has whizzed right by and here we are to Friday. I have company coming so I may be quiet until next week sometime. It seems there is always something going on in the summertime. Thanks also so very much for the visits and wonderful comments.

Until next time, take care and God bless, Verna

Stenciled Background Christmas Cards

Today I have two more designs from the Stamplorations Christmas Ephemera Kit #1 but this time I stenciled a background for each using a Tim Holtz Poinsettia stencil. I really like how these turned out. I also added some Bic marker here and there for more definition and to change up the color a little bit.

I also am loving those little sentiment stickers and I have been using them on the outside and also on the inside of the cards. The whole kit is so lovely and makes for wonderful cards. I only bought one kit but there are other Christmas kits as well as kits for other occasions.

Well, that is all for me today. We are doing a little remodeling so that I can get a dishwasher. So things are in a bit of a mess at the moment. I hope all of you are doing well and thanks so much for all the wonderful comments you leave me each post.

Take care and God bless, Verna

Quick and Easy Christmas Cards

Today I am featuring two of the Christmas cards I made from the Stamplorations Christmas Ephemera #1 kit. I simply layered the ATC designs and then placed them on a white card base to which I had used a Cutplorations Circles All Over Texture Cover Plate. I thought that was a nice way to showcase the ATC designs in an easy way. I hope the photo shows off the texture created by that plate. I really like it.

The ATC's are so brightly colored and that is what I like about them. They really look very festive with the colors and wonderful designs. I have oodles of items in that kit so I can make cards for Christmas for a long time. I was having lots of fun working with them.

I doubt I will be doing another post this weekend and I am trying to steer clear of sales and special offers. I just am not having room for all my goodies. But I am so glad I am finding time to work with this kit. Soon I have to switch up to Autumn designs. That season is right around the corner too!

Well, guess I should get the dishes done. I put them off long enough. Haha! But it is so much more fun and  satisfying to work with crafts then dishes. Until next time take care and thanks for all your sweet words about my simple card designs. I love them and read all!

God bless, Verna

Christmas Deer Scene

Todays card features elements that were included in the Stamplorations Christmas Ephemera #1 Kit. It had a stencil, ATC type cards, die cut designs, stickers, stamps and more. So I used a few of the items from the kit to create this scene. The only thing not from Stamplorations is the Washi tape along the edges.

I've been busy with freezing veggies and other things as well as getting a doctor's appointment in. At the end of August I am to have a colonoscopy so I had to get a pre-physical for that which I guess I passed okay. I am not exactly excited about the prospect but I guess somehow I will get through it.

I hope all of you are doing well and having a great week which is almost up again. Time goes by so fast. Thanks for the visits and lovely comments.

God bless, Verna

Christmas Wreath

Between company and doctor appointments it seems I am not finding a lot of time to make cards lately. But I did manage to make multiples of one design that I had printed out from the digital stamp set called Over the River from Jan's Digitals. That allowed me to assemble them together quickly.

I hope all of you have a great weekend. We are getting guests again this weekend and then on Monday I have a medical appointment to tend to. So I may not be very active in the blogging department for a bit again. So until next time please take care.

God bless, Verna

Merry & Bright

Today I am showing you the last card front that I used for six more Christmas cards. These are the card fronts from Stamplorations. They sure have been handy for quick and beautiful cards. And again I added a sentiment from Penny Black.

I have always loved poinsettias so this was indeed a design I was thrilled to have in the set of card fronts. And, that sentiment seemed to fit perfectly in that corner.

And I almost forgot to tell you that I have two cards published in the Fall issue of RubberStampMadness. I knew one was going to be in it but was really surpised when I saw another of my cards included. They are using die cuts and are featured in an article on Page 36 in case you have an issue.

Not much going on today as it is a day off from the garden and so hubby and his cousin went fishing again. Last time they did not catch anything so I hope today they have better luck. At least they are in the boat enjoying a ride at any rate. Hahaa!

I have a roast in the oven and it sure smells yummy! Now it is rest time. Take care and thanks for the lovely comments.

God bless, Verna

Beccy's Place: August Challenge

Here is my entry for Beccy's Place: August Challenge. I used the Peony freebie being offered as well as some other pattern paper from Beccy's Place. The dies used are stitched rectangles from Maker's Movement. And the sentiment I think is one that Donna Ellis offered as a freebie too! It worked perfectly with this design. After adding all the layers to a white card base I finished it by adding some pink rhinestones from Mark Richards.

I chose to use the pre-colored image as it seemed to be a perfect match for the pattern paper. And I also added a strip of the plaid inside the card to tie the card front and the inside together.

This is the Sunday our little Leah was baptized. I was not able to attend due to the early hour and long travel. With my medical issues it was best I stay home. But Arlin went to be there so we were represented. I did watch the baptism on video though so in a way I did attend too!

I hope your Sunday and first day of August is going well. We are a bit clearer looking today. Not so much smoke from Canada clouding our sunshine. So that is an uplifting view as when it was smokey it was dreary looking. Well, take care everyone and I will see you next time. And, thanks so much for the wonderful comments you leave me. I love them!

God bless, Verna
