February Rudolph Days

This time of year we are having a mixed bag of tricks weatherwise. It lots of times snows a bit overnight and then in the daytime it is melting the snow away as we have been having temperatures in the 40's in the daytime. So I can imagine that this card might depict what a lot of snowmen look like now. I used a digital set from Jan's Digitals called Magic of the Season. I think it makes for a nice card for winter and for the holiday season as well. The image was already colored so I used that for this card.

I brushed on some light blue to make a definite division between the snow line and the sky. I hope that I succeeded in getting that point across. It is a CAS card but I guess that is my style and what I like to make. I made six of this design. I am entering this in the February Rudolph Days.

Well my last wound care appointment I had the wound vac taken off. Now I have a small bandage on and they packed the tiny wound I have left with some collagen and silver treatment. I still have to go back twice a week to have it changed but at least I don't have to trip over the tube from the wound vac anymore. I got so used to it that subconsciously I sometimes still feel like I have it on. LOL So that is my good news. Also my hubby is well on the mend now too from his surgery so life is getting better.

It seems all of your comments are going into my spam folder these days. So I don't always see your comments right away. Before they came to my inbox. But even if I see them later on I still want you to know I appreciate each and every comment. Everyone have a great weekend. I am in cleaning mode these days as we are getting guests Saturday.

Take care everyone and God bless, Verna

Mini Slimline Birthday

I recently got some new mini slimline dies from Kat Scrappiness and with some leftover pieces of digital background paper from Artsystamper I made a frame with that die and added it to the background paper. The card base was a 3 x 6 piece of white card stock to which I added the framed pattern paper. Then I added a butterfly and a sentiment that I got from the Gina K. Designs line to complete my little mini slimline.

This little card creation I am adding to the following challenge. It is the Turner Syndrome challenge-It's A Girl Thing and if you click on the link you can read much more information about this syndrome.

A few years ago I had never heard of it and was so surprised to read that Linda Hunt, the actress who plays Hetty on NCIS LA has this syndrome. I just love her and think she is so talented. In fact this syndrome affects one out of every 2000 girls worldwide. It is hoped that this hop will bring awareness to this syndrome and in fact it is hoped that more and more doctors will learn to recognize this condition sooner and know how to treat it. It is something that has not been heard of much before so I hope this will help to get the word out.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you will join in on the hop and also make some cards as well. Perhaps you could be a lucky winner as there are lots of wonderful prizes being given.

God bless, Verna

It's a Girl Thing

I made another card for the Turner Syndrome Awareness Hop called It's A Girl Thing. I felt that my particpation in this way might bring some knowledge and information so that more people learn about it.

I used the Gina K. Designs Better Together set and also the Gina K. Designs A Big Hello Stamp set. The inks used for the card were Hero Arts Ombre ink pads and Gina K. Designs Amalgam Obsidian ink. The card stock was all from Gina K. Designs.

This awareness hop is hoping to get the medical field to do more research on how Turner Syndrome affects girls and women throughout their lifetimes. Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born missing all or part of her X chromozone leaving her with lifelong medical issues. Please check out the link above to the hop to learn more.

I hope you if at all possible enter into the fun. Who knows? You might be a lucky winner too!

I am entering this in Jan's Digi Challenge for February. The theme is Anything Goes.

God bless, Verna

Milestone Birthday Card

My oldest sister is turning 90 in a couple days and since there is no mail on her birthday I sent her card a bit early. She should have received it by now so I am posting this card I made for her. She is a fun gal who has a great sense of humor so I went with a more humorous type of card. I think she will love it too! I began by stamping and die cutting out 90 candles. That was a task but it was fun because I was thinking of her while doing it. You can see 89 on the card front and the last one is inside the card. The candles were stamped and cut out with the Impression Obsession Stamp & Die Block Duo. I did sets of different colors and then mixed them all up on the yellow card base. I also added some clear drops on a few of them so try to make it look like dripping wax. I am not sure that was quite as successful as I wanted but what is done is done. I think a white drip would have been better though.

I computer generated the sentiments. Here is a photo with the close up of the one on the front.

Do you see where the candle was dropped and burned the corner of the card. I simply tore off part of the card in all layers and with ink tried to make it look like it was scorched and burned. My hubby said I pulled it off at any rate and he is always one to let me know if it looks okay or not. So I went on with the design inside the card too and on the back as these photos below will show.

And here below is the back of the card.

I must admit this did take me a few days to make but it was a fun time for me and I wanted to do something special for my big sis. I hope she will like it and get a great laugh from it. Since we are in this pandemic her children decided a card shower was in order and I am glad they are finding some way of celebrating with her.

We had a busy week here. Hubby had surgery on Tuesday and was pretty sore and miserable. Then Thursday we went for our Covid shot and I also went for my wound care appointment. Since he could not drive my wonderful sister-in-law was so gracious to take us to our appointments. We only live about a quarter of a mile from each other and often we try to help each other out when it is needed. So it is pretty handy. But things are going a bit better now and hopefully in a couple weeks my man will feel more like himself again with vigor and energy. As to the Covid shot we did not seem to have any bad reactions from it. I think I might have ached a bit more but then that could be because I skipped my Tylenol too.

Anyway I hope all of you had a great week. Sorry I was missing in action but I was busy otherwise. Take care and enjoy your weekend.

God bless, Verna

Holly Christmas Cards

Well, now and then over the past couple weeks I have been working on Christmas cards and these are two samples of some I made using the Beccy's Place Blessings of the Season Set. She has been selling older sets at reduced prices and I saw this one and knew it was one I wanted to own. I am using the pre-colored design too so it is not my fingers trying to fumble around coloring. I am showing two versions that I have been making with the set. I only used the holly design here but there are more designs on the set that I can implement another year. Below is the A2 size design.

And below this one is the slimline version I made. So far I have about five cards total made with this holly set. But I printed out several sheets so I will be making many more with it.

I thought that holly was so festive looking and with a reduced price for the sets I thought it was worth the purchase. If you are interested you can check the sale items at Beccy's Place as there are lots of wonderful sets.

Thanks for the visit and I hope all will have a great weekend.

Take care and God bless, Verna

Love Smitten

This is the month of Love and for my card I chose to use products from Gina K. Design. It will end up being an anniversary card as I put that type of sentiment inside. I need one for a couple in March who will be celebrating theirs then.

I used the Gina K. Designs mini stamp set called All You Need Is Love. I colored the bluebirds with my Bic markers and then die cut the focal design out with a Gina K. Designs small stitched rectangle die. I also did another rectangle die larger in blue using the large stitched rectangle die from Gina K. Designs. They were then mounted onto pattern paper from the Smitten Paper Pack which I had adhered to a white card base. The black ink used is Gina K. Designs Amalgam Obsidian ink. It works with alcohol ink markers such as the Bic ones I used.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Double D Challenge-Valentine Love

Mod Squad Challenge-All About Love

Gina K. Designs Monthly Mix Challenge

This simple design seemed to fit all three of the challenges so I was happy with that. And, I think those birds are so cute and fun!

Take care all and God bless, Verna

It's a Girl Thing!

It's a Girl Thing is the theme for the Turner Syndrome Awareness 3rd Annual Blog Hop and Challenge for February 2021. So for that reason I made a card for this occasion and to help bring more information to you about this syndrome.

For this card I used the fairy, butterfly and the sentiment from Jan's Digitals called TSF Fairy.  I combined it with a digital background that came from Artstystamper from the Blossoms Paper Pack. I thought these digital stamps and papers from two of my favorite digital companies worked great together. And, all the coloring was done so all I had to do was assemble the card. I printed out more butterflies and fussy cut out one and tried to prop it on the card to make it look more dimensional. And after layering it to a black panel it was then added to the white card base to finish.

Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born missing all or part of the second X chromosone leaving her with life long medical issues and learning disabilities. One in 2000 females worldwide are born with this condition. For more information check the MyTurner Syndrome Journey post to find out more about the condition and also for some fun hopping.  If you wish make a card to enter too. So many wonderful sponsors have provided prizes!

I am also entering this in Jan's Digi Challenge.

Well, that is all I have for you today. Time to call it a day! I hope all of you have a great night!

God bless, Verna
