Butterfly Fairy

The challenge at the Mod Squad Blog was to use a fantasy design and so I was very upset as I did not think I had any such image in my supply but luckily I ran across this butterfly fairy image from Stampitcrazy which I thought would work perfectly with the Bisters background made using yellow, red and brown granules.

I stamped the butterfly fairy image with Versafine Onxy Black ink. My MISTI was used so that I could get a good deep black printing. I then colored in the wings and the background with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. The image was fussy cut and then placed onto a Gina K. Designs Cranberry Tart card stock layer. That was also the color I used for the card base on which I placed the Gina K. Designs Ivory Bisters background. Once all the main layers were together I decided I wanted a corner design to go with it so I die cut some Cranberry Tart corner pieces from Cheery Lynn Designs. These were added by using a Zig 2-way glue pen.

I finished the design by adding a sheet of Ivory card stock inside so that I could either write or stamp a message.

I felt so good to get a little stamping in again. I hope you are doing great and I thank you for stopping in and leaving your wonderful comments. Looks like we are going to get more rain as it is cloudy and quite dreary looking.

God bless,

Deco Foiled Poinsettias

Once again in today's post I am featuring products from Therm-o-Web along with a poinsettia stencil design from the Tim Holtz Collection 19 series. I am showing both the positive and negative designs I came up with using these products.

First step to the process was to add the design to the pink card stock using Deco Foil Transfer Gel which was spread thin over the stencil design. I then allowed that to dry overnight. The next day I then added the foil to it by using some Deco Foil Summer Rainbow foil and my laminator. I heated the laminator up for 25-30 minutes and then placed the foil over the stenciled design with the shiny surface up. I placed this between a folded sheet of parchment paper along with an extra shim of card stock to make for a good pressure when it went through the laminator. This made my positive design.

I used this panel then to make my first card. I used an old credit card type tool to add my gel but I think I might have to invest in a different device as I seemed to get some of the gel along the edge. But that did not deter me as I then just added some gold rickrack to cover up those smudges. And all that was left to do was add it to a white card base.

What was left was the negative design which I then placed over a panel of Deco Foil Toner Sheet and again using the same process ran it through my laminator. I was thrilled when I saw the beautiful way it looked and it was then just a simple matter of adding it to a black panel before adding it to the darker pink card base. I stamped the sentiment from the Gina K. Designs Festive Foliage stamp set, die cut it with a Cheery Lynn Design oval die and then popped it up over the card design.

Some might find it strange that for a Christmas card design that I chose to use the Summer Rainbow foil from Deco Foil but I am so glad I did as I really love the way both of these cards turned out. I hope you like them too. And I love the pink card stocks I chose as well to go with them.

I confess I made these up a couple weeks ago when I was not so busy with gardening and just now found a break to post them. I have as of today frozen 10 pints of green beans, pickled 19 jars of dill pickles, nine jars of beet pickles and 10 pints of frozen beets for buttered beets. The tomatoes are starting to come in now as well and I am sure I will be working with those this next week. The cabbages have been maturing and we are enjoying cole slaw and cooked cabbage dishes as well as cucumber salads. I even gave a couple heads away. So now you know why my blogging and card making is sort of been put aside. But this is a good thing. And, it is a great feeling when you realize that you have foods put away for winter enjoyment too.

Well, it is time to work on lunch. I hope you are having a very fun and productive week. Thanks for visiting and as always I love to see your comments. I read them all too.

It's All White!

Well, a little break in pickling and visitors so I took the opportunity to make one card design using all white. I brought out a NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) die from Crafter's Companion called Birthday Flowers from the Creat-A-Card Collection. After I had the design cut out from a matte white card stock I layered it onto some glossy white card stock. Then my panel was ready to add to a white card base.

Once I had my layers added to the base I then took some Nuvo White Glitter Drops and added them to the center of the flowers and also in various places on the card.

I think normally I would have used a more colorful background but since the Double D's Blog Challenge is to use all white I decided to try it. So this will be my entry. I know it is not a very elaborate design but you know me....I am a CAS person by nature. LOL

Well, I hope your week is off to a great start. Take care and thanks for visiting and commenting.

Remember

I am pretty well recuperated from the flu I had earlier but then I went and hurt my ankle so I was babying that by elevating my leg a lot. With all that and the garden it is hard to find any stamping time. But this was a quick design I made for a sympathy type card.

This was made for a gentleman who made his living as a trucker and then in later life was a mechanic and worked on semi tractors and trailers. My husband worked with him for several years so we became good friends. He was tragically killed in a vehicle accident so it was a real shock to hear he had died.

The semi tractor is from Stampitcrazy, the trees are from Sutter Stamps and the sentiments are from A Jillian Vance Design. I used a Cottage Cutz Double Stitched die to cut out the scene and I chose not to color it in.

I am entering this in the Mod Squad Blog Challenge which says we need to feature wheels.

Thanks for visiting and for always leaving such wonderful comments.

Fishing Scene

I realize it has been a few days since I posted a card. The first part of the week I was busy with gardening and preserving and then the last part of the week I have been sick. I caught a flu of some sort and had fever, joint aches, severe headache and just wanted to sleep all the time. Well, I am glad to say I am feeling some better but still very weak as it seems I do a little bit and I am all tuckered out again. But at any rate I wanted to share a card I made several weeks ago using all stamp images from Stampscapes. I just love those stamps for nice scene cards.

This was done very quickly by me and used for a sympathy card for a gentleman who had died but who always enjoyed fishing so very much. I thought this was an appropriate card in memory of him. And, I made it a sunset card.

The scene was stamped out with Versafine black ink and then I sponged on colors using Gina K. Designs inks. I used a double stitched Cottage Cutz oval die to cut the scene out and another die from My Favorite Things to make a frame. This panel was then mounted to a white card base.

Well that is all from me this week. I am so far behind on things that it may not be until later in the next week before I post again. And, forgive me if I have not commented on all of your blog posts too. I just have not been very energetic with this bug I caught. At any rate I hope the coming week will be a great one for all of us.

Neutral Holiday

I spent yesterday afternoon using Deco Transfer Gel and stencils and making a lot of patterns which I dried overnight and then this afternoon added the foil to them. For this particular card I used a stencil from the Tim Holtz Collection 19 and added Deco Amber Watercolor foil to the design by heat setting it with my laminator.

The card stock colors I went with were Gina K. Designs Kraft and Ivory. I simply added this design to the ivory base but before I did that I added two different types of ribbons along the side. Both are from unknown sources but I sure am tickled with the way they looked. I had issues trying to keep the ribbon in place so I added a brown pearl to each and that way they were anchored a bit better.

I am adding this card as an entry for the Double D's Blog Challenge in which we are to use texture and neutral colors. The colors I picked are neutral and also this is a design that would work for any winter holiday as I did not add a sentiment.

Well, the past few days I have been without a hubby in the house. He went fishing for several days so I decided to try and get a bit ahead on the Christmas designs. I have a lot of things all foiled now and ready to work with. So it was a fun activity for me.

I hope all of you are having a great weekend. And thanks so much for visiting and for your lovely comments.

Elf Peeker

I had to play with the cute Elf Peeker set from Sparkle N Sprinkle again today. This time I used a scrap of kraft and red striped paper from Stampin' Up! and again colored the elf in with my Zig markers. I was going to use Copics but forgot to stamp it with Memento ink so I had to switch to the Zigs and they worked well too.

I also added some branches from the Diemond Die Pine  Branch set. I thought it would appear like the elf is under the tree and peeking behind a package as a friend of mine suggested. I think she had a great idea so I went with that. I also used the Memory Box Cross Stitched Border die to cut out the main panel.

Well, tomorrow is my half a year checkup at the doctor so no doubt I will be busy with blood draw early in the morning and then later on a visit with her. I hope all of you have a great day and thanks for stopping in.

God bless,
