The Conductor

While looking at some of the new images that were recently released at Tiddly Inks I opted to check out some of the older digital images and in the process found this cute image called The Conductor. I thought it a perfect design for a little toddler boy. So I purchased it and made this card with it.

I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol to color the design. And, then I die cut it with a Poppy Stamps Stitchwork Rectangle Frame once in white (to cut out the center design) and again in red where I just used the frame part.

I placed it on a blue denim card stock base and then stamped the sentiment which is from the Gina K. Designs Beautiful Balloons stamp set. To finish the card I added a white panel inside for stamping a verse or writing a message.

Since I wanted this for a toddler I on purpose did not add any gems or sequins or ribbon bows. Little ones sometimes stick lots of things in their mouths and I did not want them to swallow or choke on these items.

I am enttering this in the Dies R Us Challenge which calls for Planes, Trains and Automobile designs. I figured this would fit right in.

Ugly Sweater??

I was trying to make an ugly sweater design but to tell the truth when it was all done I really liked it and did not think it ugly at all. But I would love to hear what you think.

I got new stencils from The Greetery which is called Knit Wits and with that set of stencils I made the ugly sweater background. I admit that is a bit ugly looking with those colors but when I added it to the red layer and  light green card stock base I changed my mind. I stamped the images with deep black ink and then fussy cut each one out and placed it over the center of the knit look. The deer I popped up even more with some double stick photo tape. Final touch was to add some rhinestones to the card. All stamps used are from the same stamp set.

Paying Tribute

Over at the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog they are hosting a tribute to Craftin Desert Divas who closed up their business at the end of August. So as a tribute they are holding a challenge and of course, I decided to join in and use the cute Java Fox digital image from Craftin Desert Divas. Their products were so darling and so I know they will be greatly missed.

The background for that cute fox image was done by using the Spellbinder A2 Curved  Borders One die set  and images from the Jillian Vance Design Winter Woodland stamp set. I started by using my blending brushes to make the sky line. Then I added the other images. I colored the fox with Prismacolor pencils and the inks used for the trees and sky were from Gina K. Designs. Also all of the card stock is from Gina K. Designs.

Besides entering this card in the challenge at the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog I am also entering this in the Double D Challenge too.

Bookmark

While searching for something else I ran across these old bookmark covers from Posh Impressions and I decided to make a bookmark instead of the original idea I had for my project today. I am glad I found this as it was a perfect afternoon activity for me.

I took a 2 inch by 7 inch strip of white card stock and then took my blending brushes and added shades of green, pink, orange and blue to it. Next I took the Gina K. Designs Obsidian Amalgam ink and stamped the butterflies and verse from the Gina K. Designs Women of Faith set. I then added a few black pearls before slipping it into the plastic sleeve. The final touch was to add some old fiber from my stash which had bits of color mixed in with the black.

Pattern Papers

I have so many pattern papers that are so gorgeous and beautiful that I think it is high time I start to use them for card making. I tend to stray away from using them and they need to be shared as they are so wonderful. So with that in mind I made this card.

It is a very simple card with the pattern paper cut on a curve with a Spellbinder A2 Curved Borders One die and then with another die from that same set I cut a Gina K. Designs Fresh Asparagus card stock border. This combination in turn was placed onto a Gina K. Designs Honey Mustard card base. Inside I did add a White panel for my written or stamped message that I will add later on. I then finished the card by stamping the sentiment from the Gina K. Designs Bitty Blossoms Stamp set using Gina K. Designs Almalgam Obsidian ink and then placing various colors of rhinestones along the curved border. Those rhinestones are from my stash and I have no name brand for them.

I am entering this in the Gina K. Designs Monthly Challenge and also in the Dies R Us Challenge #128-Nature.

Autumn Leaves

One of the first signs of Autumn or  Fall is that the air gets crisper and soon the leaves turn colors and begin to fall. I think this time of the year is my favorite as it usually gets colder at night but then in the daytime warms up to a nice temperature where one can not be too hot or too cold. So on this soon to be Fall day I made a card to represent the Autumn leaves.

I stamped the leaves from Impression Obsession with a variety of Fall colors onto white vellum by using the Misti. I wanted to do Jennifer McGuire's technique of using a stylus on the vellum to outline the leaves and design but for some reason my stylus kept breaking through the vellum so I instead went to a white paint pen and added my white that way. I die cut the vellum panel out with a die from The Greetery and then placed it onto a peach card base.

I hid the broken areas in the vellum with the sentiment which was a freebie from Crafter's Companion and was already printed on white vellum. But before adding it to the card I layered it to some Cranberry card stock.  Next I stamped some of the leaves onto white card stock and then I fussy cut them and placed them here and there to cover up where I had added some Connect Glue to fasten the vellum layer. The last step was to add a bunch of brown rhinestones. I thought that dressed it up a bit more.

Cowboy Up!

I realized that most of the Get Well cards I had on hand were pretty much feminine styled so I decided to make one that was more masculine. I used the Gina K. Designs Wreath Builder Stencil template to make a scene using two different Gina K. Designs stamp sets, namely Out West and Out West 2 which are both designed by Theresa Momber.

It was a spur of the moment idea to make a card with a western theme and I think I like how it turned out. All the inks used were Gina K. Designs and I also added a bit of gray Prismacolor pencil to the horse shoes.

Well, guess this will be entered in the monthly challenge at Gina K. Designs. They are asking for masculine cards.
