I decided to join in on the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog challenge for this week. I am glad I did as it was a nasty mix of rain and snow outside and so a good way to spend an afternoon. The theme is Celebrate, so I chose to make an Easter card as that will be the next major holiday in which we celebrate the great gift that our Lord gave us. He took our sins and paid the price so that we might be saved. Now that is really true love.
On my card I used a Cheery Lynn Doily called French Pastry DL 102. I lightly sponged on some Gina K. Designs Bubblegum pink ink and then stamped my Gina K. Designs sentiment in black ink. Once I had that done I took Versamark and dabbed clear ink all over the doily and then embossed it with Sparkle N Sprinkle EP107 Sparkle embossing powder and heat set it. This was added to the base card of blue card stock.
Next I die cut the DL 208 Lace Egg 2 in a medium purple card stock and then placed it on lighter lavender card stock and then cut around it to have a solid background. I then took an orange marker and lightly colored in the areas where the cross design appeared. Once I had this done I then inked it up with Versamark ink and added the Sprinkle EP to that and heat set it. I placed this in the lower center of the doily.
My butterfly is from the DL130 Butterfly Bundle which is die cuts and embosses. To emphasize the embossing more I used a green sheet of the Easy Color Sheet from Cheery Lynn Designs and that way I could see the raised areas in the green hue. The butter fly was cut out of a rusty orange card stock and with the green embossed areas showing clearer I was able to add white gel pen to the open areas. Once I had the white on the butterfly, I then went over it with a yellow marker so that it had a multi-colored design. I again added Versamark ink to the butterfly and embossed it with the Sparkle embossing powder. The butterfly was then popped up in the upper left corner of the card.
I finished the card then by adding some flowers and gems. The leaves on the flowers are from the Cheery Lynn Designs B178 Flourish Leaf Strip.
Below is a photo showing the glittery affect on the card design.
Well thanks for all the lovely comments you always leave. I so appreciate all of them. I hope your evening is a great one.
God bless,
Verna
