Using Positive and Negative Foiled Images

I got all my Father's Day cards completed today and again used images from the Gina K. Designs Wetlands stamp set. This time I chose some rushes with bird images for my main design and also a sentiment from the set.

The stamp for the main rushes image was used by applying Deco Foil Transfer Gel with a sponge brush to my stamp and then quickly stamping it to the ivory card stock. Once I had the image stamped I immediately washed it with soapy water and an old toothbrush. I set this aside to dry over an hour as it takes that long at least.

Once it was dry I foiled it with my laminator using the Amber Watercolor foil. I made the two cards up then with the positive and negatives from this design. I also used Cottage Cutz Double Stitched Rectangle Dies for framing using black, brown and ivory card stock.

Here is another view of the two cards. I hope you can see the beauty of the foiling in at least one of these two photos I have shown.

These are so much more elegant looking in person but I think you get the general idea of it. Thanks for stopping in and now I can start thinking about Fourth of July cards. Boy! This year is flying by so fast!

Stamps and Foil

With the use of some Deco Transfer Gel, some Deco Foil and a few stamps I created these cards for Father's Day.

I chose to use one of the goose images and the sentiment on the Gina K. Designs Wetlands stamp set for both of the cards. I used a foam brush to apply the Deco Transfer gel to the goose stamp by dabbing and then quickly stamped  it to ivory card stock. Don't leave it too long as then it will dry a bit and remove some of the card stock, so be quick. This had to dry at least an hour before I could foil it.

So after the image was stamped I immediately cleaned my stamp with soapy water and an old toothbrush. That works really well. And, after cleaning the stamp it is just as good as before and I could put it back onto the panel with the other stamps.

Once the stamped image was dry I then foiled it with some Deco Amber Watercolor foil using my laminator which I had heated up for approximately a half hour ahead of time. Heat setting the design created the beautiful foiled lined image on the ivory card stock. And, with the other negative portion I added that to a Deco Toner Sheet.

The first card had a die cut panel of black card stock using the Impression Obsession die called Wave Adapt-a-Background. This die cuts a pattern but if you want open spaces the way I used it, then you take a craft knife or a scissors to cut portions away to make the design. I also used a Gina K. Designs Double Stitched Small rectangle die and a Gina K. Designs Single Stitched rectangle die on the panel which when placed together give just a slight framed edging.The last step after adding all the layers together was to stamp the sentiment from the Wetlands set in black ink using my MISTI.

The second card using the negative portion was layered onto a black panel of card stock. This was then again added to a die cut rectangle from the Cottage Cutz Double Stitched Rectangles. Since this was quite thick I had to do a couple passes through my machine to get it to cut through. I had used the largest die in that set but I still wanted a thin border, so what I did was cut off the outer stitched design on it with a scissors and then mounted it onto black card stock cut with the same size double stitched die. This gave me a very thin edging around it. And, the final steps were to add all of this to an ivory card base and then stamp the sentiment in black ink using my MISTI.

Man's Birthday Card

While the hubby was away today on business I had to work up a quick card design as his birthday is June 1. I went with the foils again and also used a Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder. The foil of choice this time was Deco Amber Watercolor which I just love. The first time I saw it come out of the laminator I thought it might look good as a wood grain and I was so right.

It is a very CAS design but with the foil on the background and also on the sentiment I thought that it was a perfect combination for a man's card. I also had some ribbon which was a brown and gold which I thought was a great match too. My card stock colors were white and black. And, I used Foil Mates from the Gina K. Designs line and also a Gina K. Designs circle double stitched die. The rectangle die used was a Cottage Cutz double stitched die which I thought worked so well with Gina's dies.

My next projects will be making Father's Day cards for all the guys and I have those started but not completed. Other factors came into play this week.

I had to freeze some rhubarb, do some baking and put some strawberries into the freezer. Rhubarb is grown on our farm but the strawberries came from the grocery store. They were such a bargain I stocked up on a few quarts and threw them in the freezer for use later on. Then I cooked up a batch of strawberries and rhubarb sauce and since hubby is diabetic I sweetened it afterwards with a packet of Crystal Light Punch flavored powder. No sugar added that way. The baking I did was a loaf of rhubarb bread and a loaf of chocolate banana bread.

Well, soon the Memorial weekend will be upon us. Not sure if we will do much or if anyone will be visiting. Either way we will have a good one. And remember to honor our veterans and the families of all those who lost loved ones while serving our country.

Sentiment Focus

Well, I started out having lots of plans to get a whole bunch of cards done for the Cards for Little Hearts card drive but alas so far not one has been finished for this week's design. My hubby brought in a bunch of rhubarb which needed my attention so I worked with that and made a loaf of Rhubarb Cinnamon Bread. I guess that was his way of hinting to me that he wanted a rhubarb treat.

But then later this afternoon I did a quick card design with some Hero Arts images, a die and Distress Inks. And, believe me making the card was easy but getting a photo of it was not. I chose to make it a circle shaped card and it kept rolling away on me. Yikes! Oh, well, you might tell that one of the photos shows the card a bit out of whack as I had to get it to the edge of my Scor Pal in order to keep it from rolling off.

I die cut my stamped design out with a Cottage Cutz Double Stitched Circle Die. I also cut another one out with a matching light green card stock for the inside panel. And, I chose to use just the leaves to circle the sentiment from the Hero Arts You're So Lovely stamp set. I really like that look too!

The Tim Holtz Distressed Inks used for the card were Shabby Shutters and Mowed Lawn. I tried to use a bit of both on the leaves and I used my MISTI to try and align them up in a more circular pattern.

Before I fastened the two die cut circles together I took the top panel and did a half inch score line and then folded it so that it would lift up. Using some Scor Tape along the half inch folded area I then placed the front panel onto the back one.

Foiled Die Cuts

I had a lot of small pieces of foiled papers so I decided to die cut some flowers and a frame to make a fairly CAS card design. I used all dies from Gina K. Designs for my design. And, the foiled pieces used are a combination of Gina K. Designs Foils, some from Deco Foils and some from an unknown source.

I used Gina K. Designs Gold Sequins foil for the doily frame and inside it I added a circle from the same die set of Gina K. Designs Ivory card stock to which I had stamped the sentiment from the Gina K. Designs Just Because duo stamp set.

The Gina K. Designs Flutterby die was cut from some leftovers to which I had used Deco Rainbow foil. And the leaves and one pink flower were also die cut from some off brand foil I had gotten years ago.. Each of the other blooms were from Gina K. Designs foil, namely Lovely Lavender, Wild Dandelion and Turquoise Sea. The Gina K. Designs Delightful Doily Die set includes not only the doily but those wonderful flowers and leaves as well.

The design was then finished by adding all of these elements to a base card of Gina K. Designs Ivory card stock and then adding some rhinestones to the flowers and the butterfly.

I am so glad you stopped in to see some of the latest fun I have been having. I hope to work on some more cards for the Cards For Little Hearts Card Drive which will be held July 1st to August 25th, 2017. On the side bar is a badge I added showing the website information. I hope some of you can join in and make cards with a winter theme for the kids who have heart health issues. Try to use designs that appeal to children. Please no Merry Christmas or Get Well greetings. I mainly am sticking with Winter Wishes or something similar to that. Thanks for all the lovely comments too.

Two More Foiling Cards

What a fun Mother's Day I have had. My oldest daughter and I played with the foils and we had so much fun. I am going to show you a couple that I did with a stencil, Deco Transfer Gel and some Deco Foil in a rainbow array of colors. The sentiments I added to these cards are from Gina K. Designs.

I made this one using the positive side. The transfer gel was applied with a plastic card similar to a credit card that I had saved and used that to spread it onto the taped down stencil over the black card stock. I had to wait over an hour for this to dry but you can tell when it is dry as it will no longer be white but will turn clear.

Then I took the rainbow foil, placed it on the card stock, put it in a parchment paper sleeve and ran it through my laminator. I forgot to add the extra shim of card stock like Gina K. suggested in a video  but luckily it still came out quite well. I die cut the design and added it to a base card of turquoise and then finished it by adding a stamped sentiment from Gina K. Designs which was also die cut.

And here is the negative side of things. I love how this looks as well and will be definitely using stencils for more fun card making.

The negative was applied to a black foiling sheet by putting it in a parchment sleeve and then through the laminator. I simply die cut it out and added to my yellow card base. The nice long sentiment was perfect I thought so I stamped that in black below. I felt with the foil there is no need for further embellishing as this is a fun and festive look for birthdays.

The dies used on these cards are some from a Die-Namics Die set from My Favorite Things called Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stackers.

Foiled Again! Not Fooled Again!

Well, I spent a good part of my day and last evening foiling and finally later on today sat down and created a card with some of the items I worked on. Wow! My new laminator worked like a charm. I am very happy with it.

I recently got lots of the new Gina K. Designs line so I worked with items past and present from her foiling products. My monochromatic card is done in shades of green, namely Grass Green and Jelly Bean Green along with white. I foiled a plain piece of the new Grass Green Fancy Foils and then used a Seeing Spots Cuttlebug folder to emboss it. I also did the pattern from Gina's Swirls & Flourishes with the Grass Green Fancy Foil and the saying which is from an older foiled design of Gina's.

I layered the embossed and swirl pattern together and then die cut them with Gina K. Designs Small Double Stitched Designs Rectangle Die set. And, I also made a layer for it using the Jelly Bean Green and the Gina K. Designs Large Single Stitched Rectangle Die. The sentiment was die cut with Gina K. Designs Small Square Double Stitched Design Die and then layered onto a die cut from the Gina K. Designs Large Single Stitched Square Die. These dies align perfectly together to give a nice little border around the smaller version used.

Next I added these all to a base card layer of white card stock. I also stamped in Grass Green and die cut two of the flowers from the Gina K. Designs Frames & Flowers set which is from the Frames & Flowers Stamp TV Kit. I popped these up in the lower left corner and overlapped the two previous layers.

The finishing touch was to add some green rhinestones to the edge along the upper right side of the card base.

I took several photos to try and capture all the beautiful foiling shimmer on the card. I know I sure like the look. I think this card could work for a birthday, graduation or maybe even a retirement card. Any occasion which makes for a happy day!
