I recently ran across this scene I made using Stampscapes that I had never made it into a card. So yesterday I finally got around to doing that.
I think the reason I never made it into a card was because I just could not think of parting with it since it reminded me so much of our farm yard and our old barn. In fact it reminds me of the aftermath of a storm we had when I was 4 1/2 months pregnant with our son. The snow was so deep and the only way we could get to the barn to feed and milk the cows was to trudge through it. We would think we were going to walk over it and then just like that we would break through the crust and be over knee deep in the stuff. I followed my husband's tracks going over that big snowbank and by the time I got to the top I was just so tired out and had terrible side aches. So I plopped down in the snow and rested. When I observed the view below the snowbank I saw where it sloped right down to the barn entrance so I took the easy way out and just laid down and rolled down the rest of the way. It must have been quite a sight as I remember my husband laughing when I got to the bottom of it.
Well, back to the card. I added a white sheet inside the card so I could write or stamp a message later on. And, I added the scene to a layer of white before placing it to a red card base. I used regular Tim Holtz Distress Inks and a white gel pen for more details. And, the colors were added with sponges. For the finer details I used a few make up applicators which had sponges on the ends. They work well for fine areas. The title of the painting was computer generated.
Anyway, I wanted to share this with you. I think it only appropriate that this will be my son's Christmas card this year. I am sure he will see the resemblance as well to our farm yard. And he seldom gets back to the USA in the winter time anymore.
Well, take care everyone and thanks so much for all the uplifting and wonderful messages you leave me. I love all of them.
God bless,
Verna

This is gorgeous, love the beautiful scene.xxx
What a beautiful card that clearly has so many wonderful memories brought to your mind! I can almost visualize you rolling down the hill LOL Hey, that's using your noodle, right? Whatever works I always say :) Your son will just love this one I'm sure!
So enjoyed reading your post. What a wonderful memory, even though the snow was so deep.....fun to roll back down in the snow. What a stunner of a card. So atmospheric and your scene making is amazing. One stand out card X
What a fun story Verna! I can just picture you rolling down the bank! Beautifully colored card - Love the moonlight. Your son will love this.
Gorgeous scene you have created and it reminds me a bit of our barn too, even the lean too on the side!! I don't own any of these stamps and have been going to treat myself for years, Dar owns several of them and usually brings them when she gets to visit. Anyhow, back to the card...I absolutely love it AND the story that goes along with it!!
WOW, this scene is stunning but your story put it over the top. I can see you rolling down the hill LOL. Genius hahaha
Fun memories and such a beautiful card Verna. I love the scene...so peaceful!
Oh, Verna, I loved your story! Sweet memories and, yes, very appropriate to send this card to your son. What a beautiful scene with the moon glowing in the night sky. I bet that feels like yesterday when you rolled down the hill. Thanks so much for sharing!
This is just stnning! You should frame it and use as a gift rather then a card!
This is beautiful! Snowy. Serene. You should frame it as it makes for a great memory!
You've done a superb job with these S/scape images. I forget I have those....and not sure I have this image either. Love the dark stormy colors in the sky, the snow shadows and the highlighting of the 'snow' on the tree branches looks so very realistic. Glad that you made into a card and shared it! This one must go to someone special!!! TFS & Hugs
Simply breathtakingly beautiful Verna.
Verna, this is gorgeous and you have colored it beautifully. Awesome!
Love your story--what a kick! This is just gorgeous--wonderful use of the white gel pen!
Gorgeous and what a great idea to give it to your son.. I'm sure he will appreciate it!
Verna, this popped out at me when I first saw it in my inbox! I know I'm late visiting, but I kept it there to come back to when I had a minute. I wanted to let you know I think it is majestic! I love that you have kept the tones of the sky and the snow very much the same, which is how I remember dusky and moonlit nights in the snow from my childhood! It is like a painting on a wall and I'm sure your son will treasure it! Thank you for sharing your story! Hugs, Darnell
gorgeous card...sure he will totally love it!!
