COVID-19

Well we now have the virus in our household. Hubby started not feeling well Saturday and I told him if he did not feel any better by Monday he better get tested. Sure enough he has the virus and now I am started with the same symptoms as he did. Mostly like a head cold with sore throat, cough and runny nose. He had a low grade fever a couple times but so far I have not had any fever.

Anyway since I was to have an appointment on Wednesday with my surgeon I called in to see if I should cancel. They recommended I keep the appointment because of my cancer diagnosis but go to the outside clinic which was in the Emergency parking lot. So we did and parked in special slots with numbers assigned to them along with a phone number. So when we got there I called that number and told them Slot #5 and the surgeon and a nurse came out and checked my incision while I sat in the car. They both were gowned and masked up really well and so I hope that they will not be infected. But the good news is that my incision is doing what it is supposed to do....drain. I am to see him again after we are done quarantining.

We are instructed to rest a lot, drink lots of fluids, take Tylenol and so therefore I don't imagine I will be posting any cards for awhile again. At least before I got this COVID-19 I had sent out all the Thanksgiving cards to the shut-ins. So many of the nursing homes have this virus too. So I hope the cards will perk up those infected.

It seems to be very catchy stuff. And, we always masked up but I guess that doesn't mean you will not get it. Only went to the grocery store and drug store. Also the doctors office a lot. So far we seem to have mild cases as the fevers are low or non existant in my case. I hope all of you continue to stay away from it.

God bless, Verna

I'm so sorry to hear this, Verna. The virus is scary and unpredictable, so I'm hoping it stays as mild in your cases as it appears to be now. I know you were cautious, but we depend upon others to be cautious, as well. Therein lies the problem. Sending hugs!

I am so sorry to hear that you and your husband are sick. Praying that you both continue to experience mild symptoms and that your recovery is quick with no lasting side effects. It is so scary that being cautious and "following all the rules" does not guarantee one's ability to avoid this virus. You and your family have been through so much this past year. Praying for much, much, much better days ahead for you all.

Sending prayers for you both and for a quick recovery with no serious repercussions. It is everywhere and I'm glad you wore your masks. They hopefully kept you from getting a worse case. The new is good about your surgery. I'm so glad you were able to keep the appt. and have it checked.

Verna, thank you for sharing this leg of your journey with us. I was scared to hear this in light of your cancer diagnosis, but felt better reading your post. Thank you for enlightening us, too, about being extra careful. Sounds like you did everything right and still caught it. I went for my mammogram early this morning. Knowing how crowded the place is, and how tiny the rooms are, I had decided to double masked for the first time. While everything appeared to be cleaned often, well spaced, etc, I did notice one male employee and one male patient (both under 30) not wearing their masks properly, so that their noses were completely exposed. Usually, I have to get an ultrasound with my mammos, and for the first time in nearly 20 years, I did not need one today! That room is especially tiny, so I was extremely grateful that the newer machines show such great details. Verna, you are in my prayers each day, with much gratitude for our long time friendship thru SNS. I hope your covid symptoms remain moderate, and that you are soon completely recovered not only from COVID, but also healed from your cancer procedures. Loving you, de

Oh my gosh, Verna. I sure didn't expect to read THIS post. Sounds like you both have mild cases, which is good. If you can get over it without complication, at least you will probably be immune for awhile. Of course we don't know for how long, but hopefully permanently. Just take care of yourselves. Glad to hear your wound is healing nicely, it's the most we can hope for. Thinking about you today with love.

Oh no--so very sad to read that you & hubby have Covid. I did think of you when I heard how bad things are in South Dakota, but was hoping you wouldn't get it. Makes me even happier that we have the outside pick-up option here. I've been worried about my Physical Therapy sessions & now I again wonder if it's worth it. Anyway, I do pray you both recover quickly without complications! Great news the surgeon gave you a good report. Take care, Greta

Oh, Verna. I am so happy to hear how well you are recovering from your cancer, but totally shocked to hear that Covid has found your household. How have people without faith made it through 2020? You are always in my prayers, but I’ll double up! Hope your symptoms remain minimal, and that your recovery is quick. Big (gentle) hugs!

Wow, news we don't like to hear! Prayers to your family to recover fast with hopefully a mild case! Amazing how careful we are but it only takes ones to infect us!! I have been sick the last five weeks and am finally feeling better, NOT covid but a viral infection of some sort!! Take care my dear and I hope you get well soon!!

Not good! I hope that will be all you have to experience. Keeping my fingers crossed. Just rest as much as you can and continue to do that even if you start to feel better, as it sometimes comes back with a vengeance. Forget the card making. Your health is the most important thing you have.

Oh, Verna this is not what I wanted to read from you. I am so very sorry to hear that you and hubby both have Covid. I pray the symptoms stay mild as they are now and you both feel better very, very soon. As for your surgery, can you send me a message and feel me in. I feel as if I have been under a rock and that is not the case I just have my hands really full with taking care of my dad and DT commitments. That is no excuse but it is the truth. Big Big Hugs!!!
