Foil Tree Tag and Recipe

I had so much fun working with foil that I had to check out other dies I had and found this tree that I thought would work great on a tag or card. I chose to make a tag so I will be entering this in the Holiday Tagplorations Blog Hop and Linky Party.

The tree was die cut from double stick tape that was placed onto card stock before it was die cut. I used a tree die from Die-Namics of My Favorite Things and it is called Trim the Tree. I also used the Luggage Tag dies from Cutplorations which is a product of Stamplorations. The little gold glitter star which in fact a snowflake die is from CAS-UAL Fridays Fri-Dies division and cut from glitter paper from Stampin' Up! This was added to the top of the tree after the tree was foiled. When the outer coating of the double stick tape was peeled away it revealed a sticky tree cut and that was what I burnished the foil on. This was placed then on the white portion of the tag and at the top I also added the To: an From: which are from a stamp set by Gina K. Designs called Nordic Winter. My tag was finished by adding some punched circles for embellishment from the gold glitter paper and then adding a gold glitter ribbon.

And, I also thought the tag would look good on a pan of Nut Goodie Bars too. I liked to make these especially around Christmas and I cut them into small bars as they are just like candy. Easy to make too so I will include the recipe for you as well. I am making some of these for the church bake sale.

Nut Goodie Bars

Melt a 12 ounce package of butterscotch chips and a 12 ounce package of chocolate chips together along with a 1/2 cup of margarine or butter and 1 cup of peanut butter. 

Grease a 9 x 13 pan or like I did two smaller pans and sprinkle in 1 bag of miniature marshmallows and 1 pound salted peanuts. Pour the melted mixture on the peanuts and marshmallows and mix to coat. Smooth out as much as you can and then refrigerate them until set.

Christmas Eve

I did another scene card using images from Joy Claire. The set I used is set CLR-02019 Santa's   Coming. I am always loving the image of Santa and his sleigh flying across the sky and I just had to own this set.

I stamped the scene on white card stock and sponged and colored it in with Bic Mark-It pens. Then I die cut it with the Die-Namics MFT-839 Wonky Stitched Rectangle Stackers using the largest of the die set. I placed this on a card base of red card stock. I then finished the card by adding some silver glitter paper snowflakes die cut from the CAS-UAL FRIDAYS Fri-Dies Funky Flakes set.

I am entering this in the Joy Clair November Challenge. They have an inspirational photo to use and I picked out the deer and also some of the colors for my entry.

Well, I didn't expect to get another entry in today but I guess one never knows how the day will fill up. And, I am going to try and get an early bed time in too, so I better start relaxing and hopefully, get that tired feeling.

Snowy Wishes

I managed to get one quick card design in today and used all of Penny Black stamps for it. It is a simple scene card.

First thing I did was to use a mask to show the snowline after I had sponged on the blue sky above it. That pretty much set the background. But to add some flakes of snow falling I used water mixed with white acrylic paint and flicked on some specks to look like the snowflakes.

I then stamped the sentiment in black ink and also Snowy. I colored him with my Bic Mark-It pens and then using some Zots I popped Snowy up on the snow background. I also added some snowy flecks to him too!

For some reason I seem to be loving snowmen this season. We don't have any snow on the ground and that is just fine with me, but I do love to see the snow on cards at this time of year. Those I don't have to walk or drive in. You know what I mean? **wink**

I am entering this in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Thinking of You theme and they are featuring Penny Black stamps. I am hoping my sentiment will be considered a Thinking of You type of one as I really did not have any other ones that were even close. But if you want to get technical, I think any card you send to a person should be considered a Thinking of You one as I know when  I am writing it out and it goes off in the mail I am keeping them in my thoughts.

Well, wish me luck on arising at about 4:30-5:00 in the morning. I am not a morning person at all and usually I sleep until 8 o'clock. But tomorrow hubby is scheduled for his cataract surgery at 8:45 and we have at least an hour's drive to get there. And, before we can leave we have to try and get certain functions accomplished before that as we hope we don't have to stop along the way. LOL At any rate I plan to try and get to bed extra early tonight. Hopefully, I can fool my body into thinking it isn't that early by doing so. I am not so sure that will work but hopefully, it might help. Keep your fingers crossed that it will work.

Bake Sale Recipes

Our church will be having a fundraiser by selling baked goods so occasionally in between card making I am sneaking in some baking. I was asked to share recipes of what I was baking so I will type out a few of them for you. These cookies were what I baked yesterday.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
2 cups white sugar
2 cups Crisco or margarine
4 eggs
2 teas. salt
2 teas. soda
1/2 cup sweet milk
2 teas. cinnamon
4 cups flour
4 cups oatmeal
2 cups raisin

Cream sugar and shortening, blend in eggs and milk. Fold in remaining dry ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.  This makes a big batch of at least five or six dozen. Depends on the size you make them.

Cinnamon Bread
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 teas. vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
1 teas. baking soda
1 teas. baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1 teas. cinnamon

Mix everything but the 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon. Put half of the batter in one large loaf or two small ones. Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle half on the batter and swirl the batter and cinnamon/sugar mixture. Repeat this process with the remaining batter and cinnamon/sugar mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

I will share some other recipes another day. These both are very delicious but then hubby likes cinnamon and raisins so I can see why he requests these now and then.

Tomorrow is hubby's cataract surgery so we will be busy most of the day with that I imagine as it is an hour's trip at least to get to the hospital where he will have it done. I will do the driving home at least as he won't be able to drive. I am so glad the weather is decent and I hope it is still that way when he has the other eye done. I am not a fan of winter driving.

Leftover Card

If you got a post showing two cards earlier I had to split them up and remake into two posts in order to enter this second card into a challenge. So please forgive me if you saw this before.

This is a card I made from the leftovers of the card previously posted using foil. I accidentally threw the die cut double sided paper onto some glitter paper and when I saw them laying together I had a light bulb idea on how to use both together to make a foiled glittery design.

I added the sticky peeled off paper to the foil and then peeled off the top layer and on that I added the foil which is a pretty shade of red. I embossed the sentiment in gold which is from the Gina K. Designs The Simple Things set. This panel was then added to a base card of Gina K. Designs Ivory card stock.

I am so tickled that I found a way to use foiling without the purchase of a laminating machine and a printer. And even more happy that some long lost foil papers are finally seeing some love.

Foiled Again!

I am so excited as I found a way I can foil without going out and buying a new printer and laminating machine. I used double sided sticky paper, dies and Scor Tape to have the foil work it's magic. And, from trial and error I finally figured out which side to add to the sticky surface. It is the non colored side that worked for me but then my foiling papers are very old. They originally were meant to use with a hot pen which I don't have. They were in a bargain bin years ago and I thought they looked cool and purchased them not realizing I needed certain tools for them to work. But with this method I can use them.

The dies I used are from Cheery Lynn Designs. I cut them out of the double sided sticky paper which I got from Sparkle N Sprinkle and peeled off one of the layers and then added it to the card base of Gina K. Designs Cranberry Tart card stock. I had thought I had gold foiling paper in that packet but alas there was none so I went with the multicolored one that had some gold incorporated in it. After I had peeled off the top layer of the dies I then added the foil to it using the dull or non shiny side. You have to burnish it quite a bit and when you feel it is all adhered then peel the foil away. If it does not quite all take, you can add some foil again in that area to finish it off. For this card I used a sentiment from Gina K. Designs Scripty Sayings set and embossed it with gold fine detail embossing powder from Gina K. Designs. The card was finished with adding some yellow rhinestone gems.

Grateful Wreath

Welcome to November. Today I got back into the Autumn season and took the wreath die that was meant for Halloween and used it as a card of thanks. This would also be a wonderful way to make a Thanksgiving card too. I hope you like my simple design.

My card base is of Gina K. Designs Ivory and I die cut the wreath out of Gina K. Designs Dark Chocolate card stock. My leaves were die cut from a sheet of Ivory that I added various shades of ink to make my leaves look more the colors of Autumn.

I glued the wreath onto the base card with a 2-way glue pen and then did the same with all the leaves that I had die cut. Inside the wreath I stamped the sentiment. And on the bottom I added a chiffon brown ribbon with a double loop bow.

This panel was added to some Gina K. Design orange two-toned striped pattern paper before it was added to the main card. I also took a white gel pen and added a bit of coloring to the bird to make him look a bit more realistic.
