The Mod Squad Challenge calls for using layered stamping. In other words images that use multi-stamping techniques before you come up with a final design. So with that in mind I got out the Kitchen Sink Stamps 3 Step Hearts & Roses set to make a CAS card with just one long stemmed rose on it. The sentiment is from that same stamp set.
I stamped the design onto heavy Ivory card stock. After I had finished the rose I took a bit of black ink and mixed a little water in with it and then with a fine brush flicked on some little spatters. It was a last of the minute idea and I hope it does not take too much away from the pretty rose.
I realize I often get these types of images a bit off when stamping as for some reason my eyes will not see things correctly to align the stamps. But I was surprised that this one was not too far off the mark. So I am happy.
A mixed bag of tricks again today weather wise. Early the sun was shining so very brightly and within a couple hours it was dense fog rolling in. Now the sun is once again out and we see it is warming up enough to cause some dripping from all the snow and ice still on the roofs.
Well this card was fun to make. And, a great way to spend a Saturday. Oh, our electricity was off and on again but we figure it was the electric company doing some repairs and when they switch to a new system we have an outage. Finally after two of those little outages I decided it was safe to run the wash machine. I was lucky that I had the noon meal all done when it went off the first time.
I hope your Saturday is going great. Take care and I will visit with you next time. Thanks for stopping by.
God bless,
Verna

That layered rose is soooo pretty! I think it looks great, so does the splatter!
I have trouble lining up these stamps too. I am working on my card for this challenge, and I found a technique where you use a clear alcohol blender pen from the back, once you’ve stamped, and it blends the ink just a little. Honestly, I like that, because it covers up mistakes!! I hope to share that card Monday or Tuesday.
Glad the electicity seems to be mostly worked out. Stay warm!
THis is so pretty and I love the single stem rose, and the spatters look so nice too! I have a lot of KSS that I don't often use for the same reason - with me it's hit or miss and I don't always align them correctly so they don't always turn out the way I want them to! Enjoy the sunshine, we had sun and a lot of wind today!
This layered rose is so life like and so beautiful. It is all you need on a card. Well done.
Really stunning. That single rose, so beautifully stamped, is so lovely. I love, love, LOVE this card!
Another gorgeous layered CAS card. You have really mastered this technique.
I really like the splatters. They complement the single rose beautifully!
Stunning card Verna and the rose looks amazing and loving the splats x Hope the electricity outages have settled down and the weather will brighten up soon for you? x
I used to love my Kitchen Sink stamps, but then I didn't use them forever, so I let them go. You remind me how realistic they look when stamped properly. You did a great job on this. So pretty!
such beautiful elegance Verna...lovely card.
xx Karen
Very pretty, Verna . . . Love that tree. I had just gotten these layering dies that made these beautiful butterflies and that’s what are used it never occurred to me that maybe it had to be layering stamps… I wonder what the deal is? If they both will work?
I saw your awards from Cherry Lynn designs. I tried to find that on the Internet to see what their challenges were and I couldn’t find it. I couldn’t even find the website. Are used to be a man from there who did videos sometimes I remember the first time I ever saw them was because of Gina K. She used a lot of their days for a long time and their diecut machine too . . .
Are they still around and if so could you give me a link or a website address please. Thanks Verna keep Stampin....
