Hanging Ice Skates

With my Stampendous gift certificate I also added this ice skate stencil to my shopping cart. I thought it might come in handy for winter designs and it arrived just in time so that I could enter a card into the Dies R Us Challenge #127-Sports!

I used Eggplant card stock to stencil on the ice skates with Gina K. Designs White Pigment Ink using sponges and then I added Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White embossing powder and heat set it. Next I die cut the skates panel out with a Spellbinders A2 Distressed Edges die and placed it onto a lighter plum card stock base. The snowflakes were die cut from glitter paper using dies from the Spellbinders Create a Flake 3 set. Instead of layering them I used the flakes individually. The last step to the card was to die cut another distressed edges panel from white card stock and add that inside.

Nothing fancy but I still think those skates are a great design and look wonderful on my card. At least I had some fun!

Well, here we are at the beginning of another week and August is over half done. Time sure has a way of fleeting by. I hope your weekend was a good one and that you have a great new week too.

God bless,
Verna

This sure does bring back fond memories! How I loved to ice skate back in elementary and junior high days. I've even skated in my dreams :D These are beautiful. Sounds like you put much effort into making this and yet managed to still present a CAS look to it. I'm happy to see you creating, even recovering from a big reunion :*

My second date with my future husband was ice skating so I love the memories with this card. The eggplant is so pretty with the white embossing. You are right about time passing so quickly. Won't be long and we'll be wearing ice skates.

That looks like the perfect way to use a big design stencil like this. Those skates look neat in white over the eggplant cardstock. I like that cardstock color, but don’t use it enough. I like it paired with the lighter purple. I wonder if I have that color too, I will need to check. I don’t have quite all the colors.

A cute card. I have never ice skated, but it always looked fun. Well, it would have been fun as long as one didn't fall. I like the shiny snowflake, but I am not ready to see winter come.
