I was so thrilled and happy when I got an email saying I had won Donna Ellis's Great Horned Owl Digital set. I could hardly wait to use it and so that was what I did today. I guess you could call this a NBUS design.
The first thing I did was sponged and brushed out a background using a stencil from Picket Fence Studios for the moon background. I took some slightly watered down white acrylic paint and flicked some specks on it to look sort of like stars. Once that was done I then photographed it so that it will be available for future digital design. I guess you might as well say I made my own little digi. LOL
Now that I had the background done I added the sentiment over the moon area. Next I picked out the owl image I wanted and then sized it before adding that to the design. And, finally I added some leaves from the set. I did get my design a bit bigger then I needed it but that was easily remedied by taking my paper cutter and cutting it to the size I wanted. Then I layered it to ivory card stock before finally adding it to a kraft card base.
The final addition to the card was to add another piece of ivory card stock inside so that it will be handy for writing or stamping a message.
I am so happy with this set and I thank Donna so much for giving the set to me. It is beautiful!
I know I will be using it often.
I am entering this in a new NBUS Challenge which Darnell and Lolly started. It is a just for fun type of challenge with no prizes but I think this one will qualify since this was a completely new digital set for me. I hope they think so too.
I hope that all of your week went well and that you are still healthy. We are still fine here too. Maybe a little antsy to go somewhere but we will manage okay I hope without getting into each other's hair too much. Until next time take care and have a great weekend.
God bless,
Verna

Wow, Verna! This turned out fabulously. It is so beautiful. [Bunny]
Beautiful night sky background... so suitable for that night owl.
Beautiful! I got this, too, but you're so much better than me. It will probably be a while before I get around to using it, seeing as how I have so much not yet used stuff. I love it, though, and you're giving me ideas. Fabulous!
What a beautiful card, Verna!
What a stunning card - an awesome image to win, and you have used it amazingly!
I can understand you getting antsy to get out - we are able to go walking near our homes during this period of lock down, but that's about all I can do - even my shopping is being done by family as I am considered "vulnerable'...
Stay safe

You are so lucky to win am amazing stamp such as this and to go right dead and put it to use. I think of the wise old owl said it, it must be true. Great sentiment for this one.
Congratulations with the win Verna and what a striking image and card. A great idea to photograph the background, to use a digi later on. I am so glad you are staying safe and well x.
Love the background you created for this great digital image!
Beautifully created Verna and congrats on winning the set, you certainly have done it justice!!
How incredibly GORGEOUS! It looks like an Autumn night here in Florida! So glad you enjoy the set, Verna, and I appreciate your kind words. You have become a digital guru! WOW! I never thought of making my own scenic background and digitizing it. I have made my own papers, but never a scene. DUH! Thanks for teaching me, and for the beautiful inspiration! hugs, de
Congratulations on your win. I like how you added the moon behind the owl and that great sky. I know about antsy, this is my 25th day of staying in at home. Thank goodness we have the internet!
Fabulous card -- that owl is divine
Strikingly beautiful card Verna! I love how you designed this and put it all together!
Fabulous and dramatic card - what a great win!
