Wise Men Christmas

Today is the day I worked on my January Rudolph Days Challenge entry. I got some new stamps in the mail and had to try one of them. I really struggled with it though and I think maybe the lack of strength in my arms and hands doesn't work so well with solid images like this one. But I persevered with the aid of my Misti and got a reasonable printing of it. I might have to see if I can find a video to find out a better way to work with this type of a stamp. It is a 3D Cling stamp from Spellbinders called Three Kings.

I was recently given a bunch of more vintage stamps and one set of wood pegs had the little pine branch on it so I stamped that around the edge of my white card base. Then I added the focal image to a layer of red and popped it onto the base showing the pine branch around the edge. I also used a paint pen to enhance the stars and the sentiment was computer generated.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are all doing well.

God bless, Verna

The image is very clear and the red layer and the base with branches is spectacular. I have seen other crafters use an eraser on their misti lid to help spread the pressure, I have even used my brayer. Not sure these alternatives will help much. Maybe you should just sit on it.

Silhouette images can be difficult to stamp. The Misti does help. Like Bonnie said using an eraser to rub across the Misti may help but it does take some extra strength. Your card still turned out beautifully. The blue is spectacular and I love the stars you added. [Bunny]

WOW this turned out beautifully. To me it looks like you are seeing the wise men in the dead of night out in the desert. Love it.

Loving the subtle silhouettes on blue - fabulous card!

I think it looks wonderful. But you could try embossing with clear powder and then putting the ink over the top - might be easier for you.

It's a beautiful stamp and your card is lovely. The red and the pine boughs help it pop. I need to learn to stay away from large solid stamps because they may look great, but they can be a pain in more ways than one.

The stamped framing looks so pretty Verna and yes these solid stamps can be hard to get a deep stamped image from. Loved the suggestions of previous comments of an eraser or even to sit on it.....Lol x. A really atmospheric and wonderful card Verna x.

Beautiful! Lovely image, and such a pretty card -- also loving the branch around the edge -- it gives it just the right punch!

You’ve created such a beautiful night scene, Verna! Like Lynn, I’d probably try clear embossing ink or use a re-inker on a regular ink pad. I also find the versafine Clair ink pads more ‘wet’ to cover images. You might also try laying the stamped image face up and pressing your paper on top of it with your fingers. Sometime those of us with limited arm and grip strength have to find work-arounds. Good luck. Thank you so much for playing along with the first Rudolph Days Challenge of 2021.

Gorgeous result! I love the pine branches stamped around the edge of the card base, and the red layer makes it pop.

I think your image is stunning. I love the sort of misy looking areas on the image. I never have any luck with solid stamps. The larger they are, the worse luck I seem to have.
Your choice of the red matting was a good one and cool that you made the "design paper" for your background.
I see where people have made their own pressure tool for the Mistie. It often looks like the top of a newel post (about the size of your hand cupped around it. They there is a circle of felt. The type of stick on felt that you commonly use under the feet of furniture, to protect your wood. floors. I may ask hubby to make me one as I have the same problems with hand strength that you are describing.

Thanks for taking part in the first Rudolph Days Challenge of this year.

Beautiful night scene of the wisemen's journey. You did a nice job getting all the areas and levels of the image to transfer. I can see that this would be a challenging stamp to work with; thank goodness for the MISTI as I can't see how it would be possible to get a great image with only one pass. Love how you decorated your card base with the pine branches as well.

A Misti is definitely the way to go! But hey, you created a night scene. Why not. I probably would have overstamped it in black.
