Gingerbread Couple

Hello all. I hope you had a great weekend. It goes by so fast it seems. This Sunday afternoon I did get a bit of time to make a card so since the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge was sent to me by email I decided it would be a good time to work with my new Cherry Lynn Designs Gingerbread Family dies. Part of the challenge was to use lace and it could be real or faux. I chose to go with the faux as I have a great lace border stamp from Gina K. Designs that I thought might work.

I stamped the lace in light blue ink right onto my base card of white card stock. Then I layered red gingham paper which is also from the Gina K. Designs Cold Snap paper pack onto dark green card stock and placed that between the lace borders. My Cheery Lynn Designs Christmas lights swag was then added.

Next step was to add the gingerbread couple but first I had to sponge on some darker brown ink to give the illusion of being baked. I then dressed them up with the accessories that come with the die set. I added white paper behind them for the eyes and used a black pen to make a little dot for their pupils. I also added red card stock behind for their buttons on their belly. Once this was done I popped them up onto the gingham pattern paper.

The final step was to stamp the Merry Christmas from Gina K. Designs in red ink on white card stock which I fussy cut out. Next I added it to the dark green card stock and again fussy cut them leaving a fine border.

Now that I have the card complete I think the next time I will use a different color for the lacy border. Somehow I just don't think it shows off as much with the light blue color.

Well, another week is underway. I don't know what will be in my agenda for sure but hopefully, a little card making is in order. I need to work on Halloween cards and those types of cards always make me scratch my head as to what to do. I need several for the shut-ins, so maybe I will do some quick and easy ones.

Thanks again for stopping in and leaving comments. You have a great week too!

God bless,
Verna
