Remember when the rainbow sponged backgrounds were all the go? Well I ran across this old scanned photo of a card I made with a rainbow sponged background and some colored vellum which I used to make the flowers placed on it. Excuse the poor quality of the photo as I did not have a camera in 2005 and only used a scan bed to get photos.
The flowers were made with half circles of colored vellum and then folded an with a bit of stamens inside. The leaves were hand cut and then folded too before running them through my crimper. After all were completed I then glued them to the front panel. The last thing added was a ribbon bow.
I hope you enjoyed this blast from the past. I doubt I will be doing much for card making as I am now preparing for a visit from my entire family in August and so that means cleaning and baking are the order of the day. And since it takes me forever to do anything I need a lot of time to complete the tasks. LOL One of the downfalls of being old.
So I may just give you a few of my past designs instead.
God bless,
Verna

Very soft and pretty, and a technique I never tried! Yes, I know about the being old part, we have great grand-kids visiting at the lake house for 4 days coming up, I am so happy they are well behaved (4~6~8) or this old lady might run the other way lol!!
A lovely card, Verna, thanks for sharing your Blast from the Past card. xx
Lovely card and I don't remember ever seeing a background like that or how to make it! But I sure would like to learn how to make it!
Wow, what a background! You maybe starting a trend here - this looks truly gorgeous! And what a cool idea to make tulips! - I am glad you are enjoying Darnell's hilarious stories and my cards! Thanks for your wonderful comments!
Those flowers are so pretty! I kind of liked the scanned cards as at least there was no skew of the photograph if you don’t get a straight view. Good luck with all your chores! Too bad you can have a few family ahead to help you with them!
Wow! What a cool card! I like this blast from the past! I hope you have a wonderful time with your family. Don't work too hard!
I am not familiar with the rainbow background and it looks like I am not the only one. Maybe a tutorial from you? Love the slot colors and the flowers made like this. Enjoy your family this August. I am expecting mine too, what a great month it will be.
I do remember and I'm sure I have them stashed away some where - I used to make them with the Suze Wienberg inks! I need to see if I can hunt them out as I love the look of the vellum over yours! Good luck preparing for the family - how exciting!
Wow, this is just beautiful. I pinned right away. LOVE the vellum flowers and the leaves done with a crimper. Have seen that technique before but forgot about it, thanks for the great inspiration!!
That is so lovely, Verna! I have never seen this technique, probably because I was still working and not crafting back then. I love the softness of the unique flowers you created from vellum. I will have to learn how to create the rainbow background and try it out. Thanks so much for sharing.
I love your blast from the past! Those vellum flowers are so pretty and so is that great background! Enjoy your family - it will all be worth it while you make them your priority!

What a great flashback and pretty card! I didn't make cards this early, so it's great to see some of the "older" techniques! Thanks for sharing and happy preparing!
Whoa! This is a beautiful card that vellum is so pretty. Have fun (after all the set up work) with your visiting family!
No--don't remember that technique, but fun to see the card you made with those sweet flowers!
