Layers, Blending, Gems

Well, it appears I am on the new blogger again and now I suppose I will be struggling to get this all figured out as to the new way of posting. I don't understand all those symbols they used which makes it a trial and error method for me. I am not very happy as I hate change.

I just learned of a new challenge so I am entering it. The new one is called Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  I am doing it just for fun and in the process getting another Christmas card in my stash.

I chose to use the Layers, Blending and Gems column for my card. I recently got a new die from Paper Roses called Poinsettia Border Die. It was not long enough for my slimline card so I had to die cut two and piece it together in the middle. Over that splice I added the Gina K. Designs sentiment. I used my blending brushes to add some green tones around the edges of the layers and card base as well as the sentiment panel. The gems added to the poinsettias and to the sentiment panel were all from my stash and I don't know the manufacturer anymore as I did not have them in the original sleeves. All the card stock used is some pre-cut panels from The Paper Cuts. I  bought some that way as I thought it might hurry the process along for me. I am thinking of buying some slimline dies too but until I make a purchase these will work quite well. I even got envelopes for the cards.

Well, another weekend again. The week just flies by. It is a rather chilly day but I see the sun is peeking out now. So that at least makes one feel a bit warmer. My thoughts and prayers go to all in Oregon, California and Washington and other nearby states who are in those wildfires. So much devestation already and it does not appear to be anywhere near being contained. Not something else they needed to deal with besides the pandemic.

Well thanks for the visit and take care.
God bless,
Verna

Lovely card Verna, new blogger will put you back as soon as you go to your 'design' area....no choice. xx

Verna, what a gorgeous slimline card! I love the poinsettia die and it works quite well with your splice. If I remember correctly, the Blogger symbols have a pop up that tells what they are when you hover over. I hope it gets easier for you.

Beautiful card. I really like the die and how you made it work on the slimline card. It's always good to be able to add another Christmas card to your stash.

A very nice way to make that poinsettia die work for that slimline card. Let's hope that the new blogger will work for you soon. We are all in this together.

I hate the new Blogger! There was nothing wrong with the old one. I dislike the new Redirect I keep getting. Your card is beautiful! I made my first slimline card and just posted it today! Wishing you a wonderful day!

And a beautiful Christmas card too! Congrats to you, I have barely a thing in "my stash" as I just can't get focused.. Yours is filled with beauty!

As for the fires, our closest one is 80% contained, only two more large fires (one 160k acres, second 130k acres!) to go. We are completely socked in by smoke, reduced visibility (about a block), and breathing is definitely affected by all. Since it is in the 90's here still during the day, we can't even turn off the cooler and let the fan run to help! We are still safe though, and I believe no loss of lives here in WA

Love this card! Great design using the die for the slimline card. I too do not like the new blogger and keep going back to the legacy blogger. And I am not too sure about making slimline cards....staying with A2 cards for now.
Hugs!

Wow, Verna--this is gorgeous! So relieved the flames aren't coming toward us, but the air is hazardous so can't go outside except for a few minutes. We have ash covering everything, but too dangerous right now to do any clean up. So hard to believe what has happened & how many people have died or lost everything.

That's a lovely slimline Christmas card with all those pretty red gemstones! One thing is inevitable - the world changes and there's nothing we can do to stop it. I hope you can soon figure it all out with the new blogger. Just when you do, it will change again I'm sure!

I feel your pain Verna with the new blogger - I find it difficult too as I hate change and Facebook has also decided to throw a spanner in the works - don't they realise we are ladies of a certain age and like things to stay as they are lol! I'm glad you found our challenge with such a beautiful Christmas card - hope to see you again next month at JOSTTT

This is a really nice Christmas card. The die works well, you did a great job of expanding it to fit your slimline card. The sponging and gems are so festive looking too. I hope you are doing well. You are right that the weeks seem to be flying by now that it is fall.

This is gorgeous! What a beautiful tall card! Yes, there was a little bit of trial getting to know the new blogger but I find it's easier to get used to than the new FB! Ugh! I love the sparkle you added! Fabulous card!

A beautiful Christmas card. I love the poinsettia die cut, it is so pretty. I am with you on the the new blogger, I don't like change either. The first time I tried to do the new blogger, it was all messed up so I switched back to the old for a while. Now it is working like it should, but I still like the old one best.

This is a stunning card Verna! I love how you covered up the split in the die with the center panel - and the blending and gems are just gorgeous!

Beautiful card, Verna! Hard to believe we are making cards for winter and Christmas! I was surprised one morning to wake up to the new blogger. Finally figured it out, and all is well. Drop me a line if I can help you with anything! Definitely a learning curve, but I like it ok! Thanks for the many prayers you send up. Our son and his family are in California. The fires are not close enough to be danger to them, but the smoke is horrible. Our grandson hasn’t been outside for weeks. Poor little guy! Hugs...!
