Today I am sharing a card I made quite quickly this afternoon using the Gina Marie Designs Cut In Cut Out Christmas Tree die. I purchased this die from #KatScrappiness. On the last post I used it to make a shaker card but this time I decided to make a shiny background for it. I think I have a winner here too! That is such a pretty die that it would be hard to mess it up!
I die cut the tree design from Gina K. Designs Ivory card stock. I then added the embossed foiled design behind that die. Just by looking at it can you guess what my embossed foil is? Anyway, I cut the Ivory panel smaller so that there was a strip of the Gina K. Designs Red Velvet card base showing along the edges. I also added a strip of the plain foiled piece on the top to look like a ribbon strip. The next step was to add the sentiment from Stampin' Up! And, the card was completed on the outside by adding some red and yellow rhinestones to the design!
Perhaps by now you have guessed what the faux embossed foiled panel is from. Some time ago I got some items I had ordered in the most beautiful gold bubble wrap envelope. I just could not bare to toss it so I kept it and when I saw this die I knew I had to try making a card with it. To make the bubble wrap a bit flatter on the opposite side of the bubble wrap I poked holes in each bubble with my Tim Holtz pick and then rubbed over it to get the air out so it was a bit flatter. Once this bubble wrap was placed behind the die I then took some raised double stick foam strips to make the panel as high as the bubble wrapped area. I then placed it onto the card base. I also added a piece of the Ivory card stock inside for my sentiment and message I will be writing.
Here is a closeup of my faux embossed foiled design.
Now I think it is right pretty. The more flatter strip was cut from the outer edges of the bubble wrap bag. Too bad there is a mailing label on one side as it does limit the amount of wrap available for using. But I think it is a great way of recycling.
Well, thanks for joining me today and for your lovely comments you always leave. I hope your week is going well.
God bless,
Verna
