Dad's Day!

I worked up a Father's Day card and will be entering it in the following challenges: Simon Says Wednesday Challenge, Mod Squad Blog Challenge, Cheery Lynn Designs Blog Challenge and the Scrapy Land Blog Challenge.

I used hot sizzlin' summer colors on my card. The background was done on glossy paper and I used hot colors along with the Tiny Textures stamp set from Gina K. Designs. The sentiment and chair image are from the Dad's Day set from Lawn Fawn.

The chair image was popped up over the sentiment which was die cut from jelly bean green card stock with a banner die by Cheery Lynn Designs. I then layered that banner onto card stock in a similar blue color as the ink on the card. The base of the card was in sweet mango card stock and the layer next to that was sweet corn yellow card stock. All the inks and card stock are from Gina K. Designs. I originally had the chair stamped in Tomato Soup dye ink but later I decided I preferred the black chair instead. It went well with the black texture I had stamped over the paint swipes images.

It is very appropriate to use hot sizzlin' colors as we are getting up into the 90's these days. Our AC gets turned on mid afternoon now and runs all night. By morning it seems cool enough to leave it off for awhile. So if inside we remain fairly comfy. I hope you are staying cool too if the hot weather is affecting you. And, of course, this triggers T-storms so it is very humid as well! At any rate, have a great weekend.

Birthday Garden

I was looking at my flowers in the yard again today and so I decided to create a card with lots of flowers on them. So far my daisies are not blooming but I imagined them to be and in lots more colors then I really have. It is fun to let your imagination go sometimes when you create on paper and I tried to pick some glorious colors for my imaginary garden.

I chose to use the daisy image from the CAS-UAL Fridays stamp set called Truth Is and also the sentiment is from the CAS-UAL Fridays stamp set called Casual Elegance. I stamped all the images with black Versafine ink and colored them in with my Zig water color pens. After all were colored I sponged on some light blue to look like a sky background.

Also I took some more photos of my flowers that are in bloom now. First up is my double red peonies which always bloom later then the rest. I think it is because they are more in the shade and therefore bloom later and do not get very many buds on. This year I only had four on the plant.

I also took some photos of my tiger lilies. I only have a few of them and they are the orange colored ones. But I still think they are pretty.

Peek a Boo Father's Day Card

I had a brilliant idea and had all my ducks aligned in a row so to speak (or so I thought) when I was making this card. After I had done the first few steps I found out I had stamped everything on my card upside down. Oh, no! So I was ready to trash it  but then looked it over again and decided I could redo it and still use it for my card. And this is the outcome.

I first took a white base card and die cut the scalloped circle in the center of it with the Cheery Lynn Designs XM-5 Scalloped Circle set. Then I took the paint swath from the Gina K. Designs Tiny Textures stamp set and added color to my front panel and overstamping so that the colors showed through the die cut area.

By then I saw my mistake. So I decided it was going to be a sunset scene. So I grabbed some more blue and overstamped on the kraft which I accidentally had put at the top. This made a more darker blue. Next I added some orange in between the swaths to create the illusion of a sunset.  I also stamped more orange further down to be the reflection in the water. And, then I added more kraft at the bottom to create my sandy shore. Oh,  and I used my MISTI tool to stamp the background.

Now I proceeded to construct my scene. I decided to use only Versafine black onyx ink to stamp the images. I took images from two different sea sets to create the scene. They were the Gina K. Designs By The Sea and By The Sea 2 which are both illustrated by Theresa Momber. I also used the sentiment from the By The Sea set.

As you can tell the sail boat was stamped inside the die cut area. When the card is opened you can see how it looks from that view.

The inside sentiment is from the Love You set. Since my son's name is Joe I thought that the Joe which refers to a cuppa would also work for his name.

I always like to take a photo of the card laying down too as I think it shows more of the details. So here is a laying down photo.

Well, I think I actually made a better scene then I had first envisioned. At least I am happy and I hope my son Joe will love it as well.

Pop of Color

After I baked some cookies I made a quick and easy card design with a new set I got in the mail today. Yes, I got some happy mail with two new stamp sets and some dies. And, since it was a cloudy, cooler and dreary day it was a good time to bake and make cards.

The feathers set is from Gina K. Designs and is called Fine Feathers, It is illustrated by Claire Brennan, These are the small feathers from the set but there are lots of other sizes as well as wonderful sentiments.  I know I really like this sentiment and this can be a card of comfort for many situations.

This card was  stamped all in black except for the dark red feather. I also added a darker red rhinestone to show a pop of color amongst all the black rhinestones scattered on the card.

Well, I think it is time to sample the cookies. And, the sun is peeking out now too. You have a great evening.

Come Ye Faithful

The Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says was to do masking. I chose to make a Christmas card and I used Altenew Stamps for my design. I also colored my image in with Zig water color markers and fussy cut them out.

I am a real fan of poinsettias so of course, I had to use the image from the Altenew Poinsettia & Pine set. I masked the poinsettia off using Post-It notes and then added the holly leaves and the pine needles. It was then ready to color with my Zigs.

I used the sentiment from the Altenew Lyrical Script set with this card. I just love the big bold sentiments and I know they will be used on many of my Christmas cards this year.

I die cut a panel of white and red with the Memory Box Cross Stitched Frame Borders Style No. 99124 and layered them onto the base card of white. Next I added the cut image over the top of those two frames. My last step was to add some yellow and green rhinestone gems to the card.

Another Christmas Card

This is a card I also made this week for Christmas. It is done with mostly dies and I just love the design of it. I know I will be doing more similar to this one for sure.

I just love that background paper I used for a backing for the wreath design and other dies. The pattern paper is from Gina K. Designs. And all the dies are from Cheery Lynn Designs except for the little bird embellishment which is from David Tutera.

The little bird was part of a prize package and this was the first time I have used anything from that little package of birds. There are several more in it so I am sure I will be incorporating a bird in more cards. I thought he looked so cute perched on the wreath.

The colors used on this card are card stocks in the color of Christmas Pine, Cranberry Tart and Ivory and all are from the Gina K. Designs line.

Thanks for looking at my newest Christmas card. I enjoyed making it.

But today I also took the walker and went out into the yard to get some photos of my peonies while they still looked fairly nice. I am sharing a few photos with  you and if you have a peony image you need to color you can check out these. Seeing the colors might be useful to you. I only have the deep red and the pink ones. But I know they come in white as well.

Dahlia Congratulations

There is a new Altenew Inspiration Challenge and I decided I wanted to join in and try to capture the essence of the photo. I hope I succeeded. First I will post my card and then I will post the inspiration photo. I am also entering this in the Mod Squad Blog Challenge in which Altenew is one of the sponsors this week.

And this is the photo I was inspired by.

I chose to use the flowers from the Altenew Dahlia Blossoms set and the sentiments were from the Altenew Painted Greetings set. The lower dahlia image was popped  up. In the corner I used a Sizzx die from the Tim Holtz Alterations Collection and it is called Mixed Media 660220. I also used some green rhinestones in a darker and lighter color to add some bling and glitz to the card.

Pattern paper from My Favorite Things Subtle Plaids paper pack was added inside and then I topped it off with a die cut from Cheery Lynn Designs called B465 Double Scalloped Border. The paper has yellow and two shades of green in it but for some reason it shows more blue then green. I also added another sentiment inside too.

And, once again I have included a photo of the card in a flat position so that perhaps you can see more of the details. I love how the pattern paper shows through the die cut.

The Tim Holtz dies are a new acquisition and I was dying to try them out. I figured today was as good a time as any. I hope you approve of my congratulatory card design. I know I am happy with it.

Well, time to work on the evening meal again. If I didn't have to cook I could perhaps make more cards. But I do love to eat too. If  you were to see me you would know I was telling the truth with that statement. LOL
