Well, sometimes the best designed plan for a card does not always turn out like what one had anticipated. While stamping the sentiment on my birthday card using my MISTI I found it needed a re-stamping and I did not realize that the card stock had slipped so I got a shadow affect. But I decided to keep it that way regardless. So here is the boo boo card I made today.
I tried to add a bit of yellow pencil to the shadow so that it sort of tied in with the rest of the color scheme. The layered balloons and the sentiment are all from a stamp set by Gina Marie Designs. And, the die I used to cut out my focal layer left a nice edging and that is also from Gina Marie Designs. The final touch to my card was to add a few rhinestone gems which closely matched the colors.
I am entering this card in the Double D's Blog Challenge which by the way is celebrating their 2-year birthday/anniversary. So of course, they are calling for birthday or anniversary cards. They have a special mood board which will most certainly inspire you. I was inspired by the balloons and this stamp set was a recent purchase so now it has a first outing too. I think it will get lots of use in the future as well.
Well, now I have a sore toe. I got a blister from a shoe and then last night I went and stubbed it again. So I am walking with even more of a limp. It seems there is always something to cramp my style. LOL
Thanks for visiting and I am so glad to be back in action making cards. Your comments mean the world to me. Have a great evening!
God bless,
Verna

Way to turn a mistake into a fabulous card! :)
This is a perfect example of how there are no mistakes, just "happy accidents!" I love the affect, Verna! I'm sorry that you got a blister and then a stub!! That's enough of all that and being sick now for the rest of the year, lol! Happy New Year! Hugs, Darnell
I would not have know it was a boo boo until you told me. love the shadow effect and perfect for the challenge. Thanks for sharing your design with us at DD Challenge Blog. We hope you will join us for future challenges.

I thought the shadow effect was intentional, what a happy accident! Super card, Verna.
Hope your toe recovers soon, although it's a good excuse to put your feet up and craft. 😉 xx
It created a wonderful shadow effect and it looked intentional if you hadn't said otherwise. I really like the die you used for the focal panel. Hope your toe gets to feeling better.
Ha, ha, the shadow effect works. Glad that you left it. I would not have known. Love that background die and the balloon stamps.
The booboo looks like it was meant to look like that! The shadow effect is pretty cool actually, and I love that pretty die-cut panel for those fantastic balloons! Sorry about the injured piggy - I hope it heals soon for you!
Love, love your fabulous card and I also love the shadow effect, never would of thought it was a booboo as it look so great...what a great stamp set too!
Hope your toe gets better, I know how that hurts...ouch! Thank you for joining our challenge at Double D!

I do love that edging, that's a great die. I love your color choices here too, this is just spectacular. I think your Boo Boo turned into a happy mistake. Oh, and thanks for playing along over at Double D. This card is just fabulous!
WOW! This is so festive and happy! Boo Boo??? I would have never guessed it was a boo-boo ... I work hard at getting a shadow like that! LOL Your balloons are fabulous! (I must look into that stamp set) and your shadowing is awesome ... I don't have an eye for that sort of artistry so can really appreciate it's affect when I see it! GREAT job! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Double D ‘ATG Birthday/Anniversary’ challenge! We hope you’ll come back often.

P. S. Hope the toe is better! I'm dealing with a 'toe issue' at the moment too ... dang old age! LOL
Gosh, Verna, upon seeing your amazingly fun card, I thought you had deliberately shadowed the sentiment to bring out the "movement" and activity of the festive balloons (which are marvelously shaded and highlighted!) I love that you covered up your mistake with the yellow highlighting - it really looks fantastic! Sometimes, the blunders on my cards look better than the original design I planned. Well, who am I kidding? USUALLY it is the way my designs happen LOL Beautifully done!

Verna, you do the most beautiful job on your cards, and the sentiment absolutely looks like you planned it that way. I love the shadow effect and this bold font is perfect for it. It almost looks like it was cut out and popped up. Thanks so much for helping us celebrate at Double D!
Well that was a happy accident Verna! It looks like you meant to put a shadow behind that sentiment. Love the detail on those balloon stamps too!
Love the balloons--so pretty! The die you used is so gorgeous!
I too love your boo boo making the shadow effect really stand out. Looks like it was meant to be so I wouldn't have picked it either. Lovely card and those balloons are gorgeous. Fabulous frame die.
I'd say this was a 'happy' boo-boo, as nobody would have known you had a boo-boo, had you not said. I love the shading on the balloons and the nice shadow effect on the sentiment. Now when I _try_ to do that deliberately, it never looks so well done! Also love the framework of the die shape for this design. TFS & Hugs
The double stamping was the first thing that caught my eye.... and I like it..... Cute card... So sorry about the toe.....
It sure looks good to me. If you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have known it was a mistake!
Love this card!
such a fun card....
xx Karen
Well now I know what happened to your toe! Love this card. Those balloons are awesome and love love that rectangle Die. Think I need it. And your boo boo was a definite plus. Very cool!
What a wonderful "boo boo" card. I wish my boo boo's turned out this well. I like the shadow, too. The frame is so pretty and your shadowed balloons look perfect.
Oooooh that sentiment shadow really makes it POP, looks great! And there's just something about those balloons that look fantastic too, so much depth! Love the colors and that pretty background die!
