I decided I wanted to enter a card into the Mod Squad Challenge-Color Your Vellum which is ongoing now. And I thought to myself, "how hard can that be"? Well, believe me it isn't as easy as you might think. First of all, my embossing powder strayed all over even after using an anti-static pad. Then when I got one of the designs to work well, I messed up with coloring it. But persistence paid off and I got a vellum design colored and on the card I am showing today. I decided I would make it an Easter card since I will be needing a few of them.
My flowers are from the Gina K. Designs Spring Basket set and the sentiment is from the Gina K. Designs Springtime Baskets set. I inked up the flowers with a Versamark pad and then embossed them with Gina K. Designs White Detail embossing powder. The flowers were hand cut out of the vellum after I had them colored in with Copics. The sentiment was stamped with Gina K. Designs Moonlight Fog ink. The card stocks are Gina K. Designs Dusty Rose, Lemon Yellow, Moonlight Fog and White. My pink panel was die cut with a Cottage Cutz Double Stitched Rectangle die. The other layers were hand cut. I added a ribbon and some pearls to finish off the design before placing it on the white card base.
We have been having quite a bit of melting this weekend. So it certainly feels more like spring. But I wonder if all the moisture and humidity in the air wasn't part of the reason for my embossing powder taking flight and not sticking on the images when I stamped them. But at least I finally got one done that I thought didn't look too bad.
I hope your weekend went well and that you remembered to turn your clock ahead. I sure do not like the time change in fall or spring. It messes me all up. I feel so tired today. And, I went to bed early so that the lost hour should not bother me. Yeah, right!
Thanks so very much for visiting and I hope your week will be a wonderful one.
God bless,
Verna

Beautiful card, Verna! Love the coloured vellum and double-stitched rectangle! Gorgeous spring colours too!
Vellum and acetate - two things I have a love/hate relationship with!
Lovely tulips and the look beautifully coloured Verna. Worth the effort!
Well you make it look easy, because your Spring Flowers are fabulous!
I think you did a fabulous job of coloring on your vellum and your card is a beautiful design, coloring on vellum is a favorite of mine!! But I think it is easier with embossing powder then these dies I have been coloring on lately!! Yes, I wish they would pick one time and just stay there and it freaks me out when I get in my car and it is already changed..must be me being form 'the old school'...lol!!
I'm glad you kept at it because you made a stunning card and perfect for Easter. Coloring on vellum is iffy. I've had good results and some not so good. I wish the time would just pick one and stay there!
I'm glad you persisted - it's really pretty, Verna. I especially like your added touch of the white dotted organza ribbon - it picks up the white embossing beautifully! Here in humid Florida, I have found that when embossing on a non porous surface like Vellum, I heavily apply the anti static bag. I can actually see a layer of coating with it. Then I spoon on the EP. It usually works. Now that we have these awesome stamp tools so we can stamp over and over, I position the stamp and vellum or glossy CS, then put down the magnets, and finally, liberally coat the surface with the anti static bag. Then I stamp the image twice with versamark - The first time, it picks up all the "powder". The second time insures a cleanly image. Anyway, thought I'd like you know that yes, the humidity does attach itself to the places where our fingers have touched, and it makes things more "challenging". I love your pretty tulips and lilies. Did you color them with Copics on the unembossed side of the vellum?
Thanks for always sharing your experiments and for constantly inspiring me by showcasing different techniques. hugs, de
The vellum panel turned out beautiful and so did the overall card! Gorgeous creation!
So pretty Verna, I haven't pulled out my vellum in a long time... Love that you fussy cut it as well. Beautiful Easter card.
This is fabulous! Always love white embossing on Vellum. This is especially pretty with the gorgeous tulips. Perfect for Easter!
Gorgeous!!!! So glad you strived through the bumps as this is so pretty! Well done!
Well your persistence paid off, my dear. This is beautiful. I love the stamp you used, I would never have thought to use that particular image and it works perfectly here. Wonderful color choices too! Well this just beautiful, Annie. You really mailed the look with the heat embossing and that gorgeous blue color. I love your design too!! Great take on the challenge, thank you so much for participating this week at the
I'm glad you persisted, because this is a lovely card. I'm not great with vellum either (even with the anti-static!) The way you've placed the vellum flowers against the hot pink lets your coloring show so well. I like the colors you've selected on all of the mats - very spring-ish, and it's a wonderful Easter card. TFS & Hugs
OOoh this is so pretty...love the soothing look of your vellum flowers
Cheers

This is beautiful, Verna! It's a stunning Easter card in perfect spring colors! I'm so glad you persevered! I always have trouble with static on vellum, too, even tho I use the bag. I adore vellum, but I don't use it much because of that. You inspire me to give this a go!! Hugs, Darnell
so pretty Verna...I haven't done this and need to try it out.
xx Karen
Truly beautiful card Verna. Lovely choice of colours.
Not only are your vellum flowers very pretty, but your card design is lovely, as well. You always do such a nice job. I dearly love those pretty flowers. The dotted ribbon tied across looks perfect. I don't like losing that hour in the spring, either. I don't think it bothers my sleep, but every hour of the day is precious.
Beautiful floral image & your coloring came out great! Lovely Easter card!
This is so pretty! Love the sheer bow on top!
This is very pretty, Verna. The colouring on the vellum is so light and delicate!
How beautiful this is! It's been a while since I did some coloring on vellum... I love the look of it and your colors are just perfect! Beautiful card!
