One of my son-in-laws likes to golf so I decided to make him a card using a golfing theme for
Father's Day. I had a special stamp in mind but for the life of me could not find it so I came up with a different idea which resulted in this card.
I did the black part of the sentiment with the computer and printed it on white card stock. Then I used the Lawn Fawn Quinn's Capital ABCs stamp set to make my green letters which I stamped with black ink right onto green card stock. These were then fussy cut and placed on that same panel which was die cut with the Memory Box Cross Stitched Border die. The golf ball was made by using a Cheery Lynn Designs small circle die and cutting it twice with white card stock. Then I took a hand punch to the second circle and added some holes to make it look more like a golf ball. This circle was then layered on top of the other one. Another panel of green card stock was also cut with the Memory Box Cross Stitched Border die set but in a larger size which served as a layer.
My base card was of white card stock so I decided to stamp a background onto that to make a plaid design. I used the Gina K. Designs Diagonal Striped Background set. First I inked it up well with green ink and placed the card base face down onto that inked background. I took another piece of larger card stock and placed it over that and then rubbed with my hands well over to get the impression from the diagonal stamp. So since I wanted a plaid I inked the same background stamp up again but this time I placed the card base going the opposite way which when stamped created the plaid.
I am entering this card into the Mod Squad Blog Challenge which calls for a hand stamped background. I think this will be a qualifying one. Well, I guess I missed the challenge as it rotates from a one week to a two week and I sure find that confusing.
Oh, and later on after the card was all done I did find the original stamp I was looking for. But I will go with this design and then use that another time for a card.
I am afraid I won't be doing much card making this week as I have my grandson here all week and that means more cooking and laundry to tend to. Anyway, I want to spend time with him too. So don't be concerned if this is all I post this week. I hope in the meantime your days are filled with fun and sunshine.
God bless,
Verna

Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments and visits.
Appropriate for the Dads who golf! :)
Such a cool card--he'll love it!
Planned B worked out great Verna, It sounds perfect for your son-in-law. Love your little golf ball in place of the O.
Great idea for a golfing Dad! Love how you did the golf ball and incorporated it in to Golf!
This is a fun card for a golfer. Have a great time with your grandson. I love having my grands come and stay but they are all older now and working so we don't get to do that much anymore. My oldest granddaughter goes to college about 12 minutes from here so I get to have dinner with her more than the rest of them. They grow up so fast so I'm glad you are taking time to enjoy him.
Super Golf card, I know your SIL will love it. I hate it when I can’t find the stamp I have in mind, so frustrating, but by doing that you did come up with a very clever card!
I have gotten mixed up by the ModSquad challenge dates more than once. It is confusing. Have a good day!
Wow, you got very creative with this card! Masculine cards stump me sometimes. I currently need three of them and I have no ideas. Well, maybe one idea. I'd be confused by that challenge, too. The only challenges I play in last for at least two weeks. So many cards need to be made and so little time. I hope you've enjoyed your week with your grandson, Verna.
Great golf ball - brilliant idea!
Can I say... golf ball... genius!! This is a very cool card... love the plaid and love how you put the whole thing together. Fantastic!
