Embossed Border Poinsettia Card

Gina of Gina K. Designs has a video showing how to make an embossed border on your cards. I just had to give it a try and the best way to learn is to watch her video.

This time I used a portion of the Cuttlebug folder for which I don't know the name. However, Gina says you can use any folder and any type of embossing machine to do this technique and I did it with the Big Kick. She used her Cuttlebug.

Here is a close up of the embossed area of the card. It appears much clearer in this photo.

I used the beautiful large poinsettia from the Gina K. Designs Year of Flowers set illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger. The sentiment is from the Gina K. Designs Season's Greetings set. The Gina K. Designs card stock colors used were Christmas Pine  and Ivory and the Gina K, Designs inks used were Christmas Pine and Cranberry Tart. I stamped the image in Cranberry Tart and colored it in with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens, CVR8, CR10. CR11 and for the center GB5. I also added a Wink of Stella to the poinsettia image.

I had a great time working with this new technique and I have to admit, the first try, I did emboss it wrong. But I am sure it still can be salvaged and made into a lovely card none the less. Let's say it takes this old gray mare a few tries to pick up on things some times. LOL

Anyway, I hope you get a chance to try this as well. It really dresses up a CAS card.

God bless,
Verna

Gorgeous, The colours are perfect for this and so is the embossing folder.

I want to use this technique, too, Verna! THanks for reminding me of how to do it. Your other poinsettia card looks pretty, too! You are on a roll with your Christmas cards, and I need to get going! hugs, de
