Wheat Sympathy

A good farmer friend of ours passed away this last week so my husband asked me to make a sympathy card that reflected the rural farming life. So with that in mind I chose to use the Jan's Digi Fall Note stamp set for it. I also used a background I had made and photographed so that I could digitally add the PNG images of the wheat to it as that wheat is very fine detailed and there is no way I could have fussy cut it decently. I also hand stamped sentiments from the now retired Sparkle N Sprinkle Memory In Our Heart set which was illustrated by Donna Ellis. All of these elements made for a nice sympathy design.

I think you can see where I did do a bit of fussy cutting of the wheat design and added it to the inside of the card to carry the wheat theme over. And because of the fine details I did not capture the full essence of that beautiful design. I guess I should have printed it off on a separate paper and glued it inside but this will have to do this time.  And, the photo below will show that on the other side of the card I added the sentiment from Donna's stamp set.

I used my paper cutter to cut out the layers. And, by adding a layer of black card stock I thought it gave more definition to the design and helped to showcase the wheat images better. I used Ivory card stock for the card base.

Well. still sunny yet here but I think they said the clouds would be moving in. And, colder temps are on the horizon. But these past few days we did see quite a bit of snow melt. So perhaps it is a sign of more spring like weather I hope. Thanks for visiting and I wish all of you a great rest of the day.

God bless,
Verna

Verna, I’m saddened to hear about the loss of your friend, and know the community will not be the same without him in the coming seasons. My sincerest sympathy. I love that you are digitizing your own backgrounds! What a fantastic idea! The wheat (so apropos for your area and the Christian faith) is lovely against your sky. So grateful you enjoy my stamp set! I feel special seeing it on your beautiful card. Hugs, de
