Daffodil Is Up-Giveaway!

Well, I finally got my daffodil up! That is up on my card. It was made using a die set I got in that prize package and it is a Gemini die called Daffodil. It is a layering die set. I tried making it with very light weight printer paper and that did not work as it was too fragile so I learned to use card stock for the design.

This die is double sided meaning you can die cut two portions of the design at once. For the daffodil flower I put one shade of yellow cardstock on one side of the die and then another shade of yellow card stock on the other and then ran it through my machine. Also for the stem it was done the same way with a light green on one side and a dark green on the other side and then you again pass it through the machine. I was surprised that it worked so well with my Crossover die cutting machine.

Once I had it all assembled I placed it on a white card base. I thought that was too plain so I then took another edger die from the set I won and created two strips to go along the edges. Next I added the sentiment which is from a Crafter's Companion stamp set called Traditional Peony. I finished it off with some Stampin' Up enamel dots. I was then satisfied that it looked quite nice. If you look closely you can see where my feeble arthritic fingers did not get the daffodil completely assembled correctly but I think it is good enough that you get the idea.

GIVEAWAY

Now here is what I am giving away. A set of dies just like this one that I used for this card. You guessed it! There were two identical sets in the package so I figured I might as well share the extra one with another crafty person. So all you need to do is comment and then next Friday, April 30th I will draw out the winner. So good luck everyone!

Have a good weekend and see you next week.

God bless, Verna

Love your bright, spring colors with the white card base - great contrast and so pretty! The detail on that die is incredible. And double sided so you get two cuts with one pass - what will they think of next! Love the decorative edges you added, and the enamel dots finish it off perfectly.

You did a great job assembling the daffodil and it has so much depth and dimension. Using the edge dies really made the card pop. How sweet of you to share the prize.

LOVE this card. You have chosen the perfect colors, not always an easy thing. I have never seen that die set, you have used it perfectly here. I really like your whole design here with the die cut edges and the enamel dots. They are always a great final touch!

What a lovely daffodil card! I read about this die in the email you sent. If it's like i picture it in my head, it's a revolutionary change for die cutting! It could half our effort when cutting dies. I wonder if they will add embossing to some, too. Very kind of toy to share the love with others!

Beautiful daffodil card. I can't envision a die that cuts on both sides, but the result is wonderful. Sadly the daffodils in my area have almost all faded, but they can always be enjoyed on a beautiful card.
