Calla Lily Sympathy

We found out that Arlin's Aunt Phyllis passed away last weekend so I made a card especially for her family and used more pastel shades on it. I had just gotten a new stamp set in the mail from Gina K. Designs called Sentimental Calla Lily which is illustrated by Chris Dayton. It has a variety of sentiment combinations so it will be a very versatile set to own.

I did some research first on the internet and found out that the Calla Lily comes in all colors and that many of them have white or silver looking spots on their leaves so I added some to my card. I used Zig markers to color in the lilies. I had a white paint pen with which I added the spots to the leaves. The background was done using a Tim Holtz Lace Layering Stencil and using Gina K. Designs Ocean Mist ink. I did the stenciling after I had the main image already colored in. I was just careful that I did not add ink to the stencil in the area where the lilies were placed.

I just love the font on that nice sentiment from the set. This card worked up quite fast since it is a clean and simple design but I love that look for lots of occasions. One could just change the sentiment.

Well I am entering this card into the Double D Challenge in which pastel colors are to be used. My card was a mix of greens, pinks, yellows and white and of course, the blue stenciled design.

Thanks so much for your visit and I love all the comments you leave too.

God bless,
Verna

Aw, Verna, sorry to hear about Arlin's aunt. It's so hard seeing our loved ones leave us behind. Your sympathy card is gorgeous - I especially like the spots on the leaves - so glad you added them, and the stencil is wonderful! Another pretty touch to those incredibly colored flowers, is the dimensional gray shadowing them. Wonderful card. xx
